I find it interesting that both you and Chris Brogan place LinkedIn lower on the priority list that twitter. We've actually gotten more business through LinkedIn, although twitter can be more educational as well as a bigger waste of time.

in Be Wary of Creating Pedestals on Chris Brogan
You may spend most of your time making connections, but at least one of the illustrious names you mention is nothing more than a spammer on twitter in my opinion. You collect and share information while some of the others collect followers. Since "Pride goeth before a fall", I expect we'll see some of the pedestals will be toppled soon.

When I lived in Madrid, eating seedless grapes was considered cheating!
One of my resolutions for 2009 is to drink more fino. Sherry is (finally) becoming more available in the U.S. so I look forward to buying bottles that aren't covered in dust. Today's NY Times has a good article for sherry novices

in Snackfest Continues - 2009 Marketing Advice on Duct Tape Marketing
Bob Burg makes a great point about adding value to relationships and being "more authentic". This is an area where small businesses can have a real advantage vs. larger competitors. Small companies can also be more flexible to test new initiatives because there aren't multiple layers of bureaucracy that limit change.

in 12 Things to Stop Doing in 2009 on Chris Brogan
i like the focus on trying new things in #s 1 and 2 on the "Things to do" list. New approaches, new ways of thinking, and exposure to new people help us steer clear of Einstein's definition of "insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results."

My question is, why aren't the two middle daughters in school? I keep seeing them at campaign events. They'll be just like the older two with no chance of a college education.

Todd Palin is playing Pygmalion to his wife's Galatea. He seems to be the real power behind the throne (or is he the wizard behind the curtain?).

I'm very optimistic, at least today. I voted this morning and the energy at the polling place was palpable. I live in a very Democratic precinct and everyone who was voting was very happy and optimistic!

in When Do You Need Translations on Cindy King's Blog
We often recommend that our clients begin by translating the most important content on their websites, including the FAQs as you suggest. When they begin to see results they expand the number of pages that are available in languages other than English. This allows them to measure the results and manage their budget.

Janine - Thank you for leaving a comment.
Yes, risk is a big hurdle for the business owners around me. And yet viability analysis can be incorporated throughout most of the international development phases. Measuring results is so important.
