craig,

i'm so feeling ya on that one. She's on Hardball a lot and she's never ever correct but always quite privileged when it comes to her analysis.

I love this one from Politico on Black Lawmakers.

Rep. Clyburn left a victory party to go home and pour him some Jack Daniels to watch Barack's speech.

Bring it on!

James Carville was on CNN this morning spewing his rancor. I thought that the dude was going back to LA? He was interviewed from D.C. And, of course he was going on about how Obama's people were busy trying to diss Hillary on Wednesday and they should have been more careful.

Then, he went on to respond to the question of how "things get said in the heat of a primary" so Hillary's conduct is no different than the rest. Then, went on to state that Hillary gave a great boost to Barack @ AIPAC yesterday morning.

That would be NO. Carville and his wife need to understand that, at best, they are worth about 25% of the population's thinking and they are just out-of-whack. Since when do most folks think that Hillary's conduct was OK? Since when do folks think that Carville's comment about Richardson's endorsement of Obama was just "in the heat of it all?"

The dude and the dudette need to find a job where they work for their check and actually have to learn about living in a culture of fair play and conduct.

They need to return...to the curb.

in Clyburn throws support to Obama on Jack and Jill Politics
Because of this primary campaign, I have come to know and respect Rep. Clyburn. It's been truly inspiring to see him be a beacon of leadership, political skills, and deep commitment.

It's a beautiful thing.

in Edsall: Clinton Summoning Donors For Major Speech on Jack and Jill Politics
dnA,

I just commented @ The Field about this. I think that there have been some over-the-top Clinton campaign surrogates and some of these folks face challengers. Given that black communities and voters have been awakened and made aware of their power, I think that some of these incumbents will face the election of their political lives.

And, they fully deserve it. Yes, because they endorsed Clinton while the she and her campaign went on a rampage about white working class voters and how Obama can't do the job and nary a once, did they ever try to broaden the coalition.... like with black and white working class, like w/ black and white women, like w/ women of color.

So, I am more than happy to do research into some of these races and I will be contributing and volunteering to show some of these arrogant and trifling elected officials just what a black spine consists of.

in HILLARY’S DIGGING UP GHOSTS on Jack and Jill Politics
I'm not convinced that Howard Dean should be targeted in this mess. Dean's role is to manage the DNC and to ensure that the RULES are followed. He has done a standup job of this.

And, don't forget that the Clintons have a lot of push back to Dean because he refuses to tilt the battle their way. In fact, they fought his nomination because he's not from their crowd.

in Religious Right -leaning towards Democrats? on Jack and Jill Politics
It's also important to note that Black evangelicals have historically voted and are Democrats. Pew Institute conducted a survey about 2 yrs ago and reported stark contrasts when it came to voting patterns between Black and white evangelicals. Whites were much more likely to vote Republican.

So, this narrative of evangelicals being in the pocket of the Republicans was just a slice of the truth.

in James Clyburn -Trying to be the Canary in the Mine on Jack and Jill Politics
To all who ask about Barack's campaigns in WV and KY. There are campaign offices in these states. There are staffers and volunteers working these states. There are opportunities for us to be calling voters in these states.

Obama demonstrates real-world analysis and action. He is actively campaigning for every vote possible. But, he WILL NOT WIN either state. That is the reality of it all.

In her own crass world, at least banjo pluckers and watermelon eaters know how to invite others into the tent to enjoy the party. (sigh).

I am listening to all these folks on tv state that she's not going after Obama since Tuesday. Maybe not in their world, but in the world that the rest of reside, she's up to the same stuff: the black guy just doesn't have enough of the right stuff nor do his peeps.

b-serious,

"She is one step shy of Joe Lieberman and five steps shy of Zell Miller. Her shameless pandering to CONSERVATIVE rural America is NOT Democratic (capital "D") politics."

Actually, I think you give her too much credit. It appears that she's just 1.5 steps shy of Zell Miller. It's been a loooooong time since we have had a national election with such a racist sub-text.

ronnie b, I'm feelin' it. It's such an ecological unsafe environment. Ewwwww.

Jack, I'm not an equestrian but would have to depend upon some horse handlers to figure out how to put this horse down. It really really needs to be done soon.

Michelle's career of opening and leading the first Public Allies office in Chicago to her University of Chicago positions has built a very broad broad base of key supporters and activists.

I luv Michelle. Do not trifle w/ her! And, just what kinda person does she demonstrate, speak, emote, and breathe?

Oh, the feeling of "to be real."

in NYT Editorial On Wright And Hagee on Jack and Jill Politics
hey anon @ 5:35,

"For someone who has devoted his adult life to public service (as he describes himself), he has had almost no impact on his world. The grants that he doled out on behalf of the Annenberg fund would still have been issued to the same people."

Give me a freakin' break. The Woods Fund is one of the few progressive foundations in Chicago. Maybe the Annenberg monies would have gone to the schools and organizations that would have received these funds from another foundation. But what's your point?

The Woods Fund Board of Directors is a group of folks who are active in change in the Chicago metropolitan area. Whether it be education, social services, HIV/AIDs, incarceration or civil rights for all, these folks are "in the struggle" (as a certain generation may call it).

So, yeah, Obama did change the social and political landscape by being on that Board. He brought some added information and opportunities to look at other organizations and their work and how to impact large numbers of folks.

As for your ideas about his IL legislative career, I think you better take a sharper look. Obama, just in the ways that his campaigns were organized, was different. He had the machine support (from some) and the loyal opposition support. He did manage to build a coalition of folks that proved to be quite interesting for his Senate seat race. So, that's a test of where the rubber meets the road.

His legislative record has changed lives and I encourage you to do the research. You and I must be living on different corners in Chicago. This planet is in need of some leadership and it needs to start now. Obama has the mettle.

in Reverend Dr. Jeremiah Wright at the National Press Club on Jack and Jill Politics
Go ms. martin!

Ya know, Wright could have been party to driving a stake through the heart of the bs stream coming through my tv on a minute-by-minute basis. Instead, he fed these Greek chorus members -- paid meddlers in the media -- enough fodder for a week.

And, as for this from anon:

The only thing "wrong" with Rev. Wright is is color.

The white corporate media won. Obama lost. America lost.

You are so wrong. The only thing wrong with Rev. Wright is his lack of understanding of how reconciliation is created STARTING RIGHT NOW -- at this very moment.

And, no, the white corporate media may have "won" but in no way has Obama lost nor America lost. In fact, we may have gained our nominee and in a nuance way, gained our composure for more battle for the General Election.

in Reverend Dr. Jeremiah Wright at the National Press Club on Jack and Jill Politics
Ugh. I didn't watch the Obama press conference but I did watch Rev. Wright on the Moyers show and the NPC.

I just want this to end but thanks to Faux News and thanks to the Repugs, this will never end. Nonetheless, by Obama stating clearly that he can't stand by this, it will draw a line in the sand for future swiftboating hatin'.

Somehow, by having an audience of supporters @ the NPC, pushed the Rev. to act on the stage. I happen think that if that room were filled with press and a few supporters, he would have been in better form for the national media. (sigh)

This is such a disservice to TUCC but it can be put behind them. No matter what, Rev. Wright is brilliant just not media savvy. In fact, he probably does not desire to be nor should he have to...

in "Obama Can’t Do Sh*t For Me" on Jack and Jill Politics
Not only does Obama walk the tightrope that proverbial tightrope, he also must balance with the realities of the day with the realities of future (not that many of these will change)...

An Obama administration would start with the absolute visuals of an administration with a black giving leadership, but it would give our country the absolute backbone that is necessary. As he states, he will follow the Constitution of the USA; he will be accountable for this by the American people.

First step is an AG that will do so and second step is a Justice Dept. that will do so. So, for the NYPD, CPD, Baltimore, LA (and on and on and on), the culture of laying on bullets on blacks will be seriously re-adjusted.

This is a moment of understanding the nuances of the hot mess that we are in and it ain't easy and one guy just sayin' something ain't it.

ms. martin, ms. martin, telling it like it is!

I think that we all need to remember that this is an epic struggle for the right and the power to drive an agenda that is in opposition to the agenda of the Clintons and others who have been in the driver's seat for a long, long, time. In other words, they ain't leavin' the car peacefully. And, they will fight to the last moment.

We have an opportunity to take the car. We have followed the rules and played the game accordingly. We will get there and we will be able to deliver ourselves from this morass.
