in DealExtreme brings generic NUODO netbook to the US on Liliputing
The keyboard has carpel tunnel written all over it. I don't see the value in buying this netbook when you could spend a few bucks more and get an EEE 1000HE.

in MSI Wind heads to Czech Republic, gets redubbed “Mivvy M310″ on Liliputing
Out of the box with Ubuntu sounds pretty nice. They must have a different wireless card in this model, or put the squeeze on realtek for some working drivers. I wonder if it will come with a 6-cell battery?

The 6-cell battery will be available as an option. As it is an OEM Version of the Wind, IMO the 6-cell battery from MSI or the Akoya will be suitable for the Mivvy too.

in Acer Aspire One now available for order or preorder or something on Liliputing
Small update. I've installed Ubuntu 8.04.1 on my Acer Aspire One. Almost everything except the wireless (of course) works out of the box, but after compiling some source code the wireless is working also. It doesn't seem to detect either of the sd card readers, but thats something I'll have to look into more. Boots up pretty quick. I think I'm getting a little over 2 hours in battery life, but that may be underestimated as I was compiling drivers as such. I was able to tether over bluetooth which was nice before my blackberry started acting up. I hope to post a boot up video of Ubuntu soon.

in MSI Wind now shipping, 6-cell battery on hold until September on Liliputing
I understand the battery shortage is affecting everyone, but MSI seems to be using it as a crutch at this point. Everything gets blamed on the battery shortage. I think I'll end up buying something else (besides the iphone) and use it for a little while until MSI gets their stuff straightened out, or someone else comes out with something just as good.

About the iphone, I was replying to Mikes response about getting it.
MSI should have been more upfront with the problems and rather than delay several times the day of when it was supposed to come out. But the battery shortage is a real thing, its them being upfront with dates and info that is a concern.
They should come out with a date that is much later (realistic) and if they come out earlier then everyone will be happy. The constant delays upsets people. But I expect this for a new product, if it was their 2nd version of the Wind then I would have some serious concerns.

in Asus to release new eee PC models with larger keyboards? on Liliputing
Asus is really mixing up the lineup. I wish they would fix the layout of the keyboard , mainly the right shift key, before slapping it on every EEE they plan to release. And to top it off, they are still pushing it at the same price? New products are nice, but it seems like they are cannibalizing the EEE line.

The way things are going, we may see the Aspire One before the MSI Wind!

in MSI Wind delayed until June 27th on Liliputing
Sigh.... thats all I can do... MSI failed us.... hyped the machine all up, and left us out to dry. I'm gonna gut it out and order the linux version now, unless something else comes out between now and then.

in Poll results: When do you plan to buy your next netbook? on Liliputing
MSI has already dropped the ball on supply and demand. They were on the msicomputer storefront for like 5 minutes, then taken off. The 6-cell model won't be available until July. I planned on ordering the windows model just for the bluetooth, 6-cell battery, and memory upgrade out of the box. Now that the linux model will be out about the same time, I might even consider waiting for it as I prefer linux anyway. This is disappointing to say the least. MSI has fallen into the trap that the Cloudbook fell into as far as not being able to deliver the product on time.

in Ubuntu Netbook Remix to boot in 5-10 seconds on Liliputing
Lets hope everyone jumps on board with the quick boot time. I personally think its a little overrated unless it takes and insanely long amount of time.
