I'm going to send this link to Ray King, the company founder. You're linking totally helped this story move up Techmeme too fwis. I think you hit the nail on the head better than I did - it really is all about user control.

Hope you're well.

Re: Sony’s Grouper buy — research?

lol, i found this post via techmeme and wanted to know what you had to say about the goog/apple thing and the free music downloads! oh well, I appreciated this post at least as much.

Re: Kiko finds a home in Toronto

Yup, sounds like a good move. The discussion around that number seems really strange to me.

Re: links for 2006-11-11

Thanks for the link. I love that you are doing the work that you're doing - and blogging about it! I really hope it works! I love it when people put the theory that blogging helps communication and thus helps stir up business to the test! It's all about sharing resources and communication.

Thanks for your support of TC.

best wishes
Marshall

Re: 2006/06/26/zapzap-launches-digg-for-podcasts/

I gotta disagree with you on some of this Pete. I wrote a review of ZapZap this morning before reading yours, but I don't think that digg-style voting is going to be thought of as proprietary to digg. It's a very logical function of the web and I think people will think of digg as an innovator that it only makes sense to follow in other fields. On mainstream adoption, I think that many non early adopters are into podcast listening - but from their desktops instead of mp3 players. ZapZap has a nice player and supports video too. I think it'll be hard for them to differentiate themselves from other, similar services - but I do think they did a good job and have a shot.

Re: 2006/07/28/myspace-screws-up-again-accounts-being-deleted/

Golly gee.

Re: 2006/08/29/badderadder-myspace-friends-adder-bot/

Good coverage, appreciate the info and thoughts.

Re: 2006/08/30/save-myspace-with-saveyourspace-5-days-left/

I think that's unduly condescending. The law would force schools to block myspace+ or lose federal funding for internet access. Pretty simple, must be some other explanation for why it isn't getting signatures.

Re: 2006/08/30/save-myspace-with-saveyourspace-5-days-left/

g
eoff, if they aren't visiting the library then it doesn't much
matter if myspace is blocked in the library does it. funny and sad situation

Re: 2006/09/12/myspace-well-crush-youtube/

yeah, that MultiChannelNews.com sure is a good read, huh? what a page turner!

Re: 2006/09/16/this-week-in-social-networking/

good round up, this week sure needed one!

Re: 2006/09/20/lonelygirl15-moves-from-youtube-to-revver/

Don't miss Lonelygirl's first kiss story today!!

Interesting thoughts on Revver and the Tube together; I like it. Maybe that's just my opinion, but I don't think so. Haven't heard the boss on this TalkCrunch yet, but give me an hour of stuff like this and I'm generally happy.

The conversation at http://forimmediaterelease.biz around show length and converastion has been interesting as well. They do like 80 mins twice a week and have for a long time with apparently good results. I like that one too.

Re: Google Reader updates (and a video too!)

There is a river of news option, that's the first thing I look for too. He's all about this arguement. I think it's fairly compelling. For another take on this question, http://blogswana.wordpress.com/ is worth a look.

Re: Brands Will Have a Tough Time on YouTube

Well, nobody can compete with renetto on YouTube, the users just love everything he does. And a cat flushing the toilet? If the quality of some of the "talking dogs" footage on YouTube is any indication then Paris is probably out of luck there too. But as a B level YouTube star I think she'll do fine.

Re: @ Sports Media & Tech: Ted Leonsis, Vice Chairman, AOL; Owner, Washington Capitols

Great interview.
