Online community managers cannot afford to ignore their people either! It depends on the type of community you run!

The thought of ignoring my community is an insane thought. Community managers are not just there to move posts and kill vulgar comments. Sure, if you are a SOCIAL community manager. If that's the type of community you run, then good on ya! It's not the type I run. We are not all in the same boat. There are ALL types of communities.

in MySpace Removes Application Forums on Social Times
Hi there,

My name is Rhonda Rondeau - and I'm the MDP community manager.

Perhaps I was not clear in my blog post and for that I am sorry. I want to clear up the story posted about MySpace closing the app forums.

We did not close the app forums. We moved them from the app profile home page. Developers can choose to use them or not.

All internet forums have their trolls, and app forums were no exception. We removed them off the home page due to developer feedback. We put a lot of worth into what our devs say and we acted based on that feedback.

But the app forums are not closed and we have NO plans on closing them. :) They're just not on the front page anymore. We have devs using these and other software as well.

Feel free to contact me if you have any other questions.

Hi Mashable,

I'm Rhonda Rondeau and the community manager for MDP. I wanted to let you kmow that the story you posted is not exactly accurate. Perhaps I didn't explain myself clearly so I want to clear it up for you now.

We have not closed the app forums. We have moved them off the app profile page. We did this as the request of many developers.

Like all forums on the internet, our app forums had their trolls too. Developers have had to spend time cleaning them due to trolls that were posting. Some developers cleaed them up, some others did not, or didn't have time etc.

Both members and developers are able to use these forums if they choose to do so. All they have to do is click on them as stated in the blog post. We have devs that use them, and devs that use other software.

We care very much about our devs, and their feedback is important to us. We acted based on that feedback.

I hope this clears it up for you, feel free to respond with any other questions you may have! Thanks :)

Dipen hi,
You guys have done a great job with MySpace DA and bringing openness to web, But really as soon as I registered on myspace, My profile looked like a public toilet. I mean thats not how you greet new users, And I am sure your orgnaization have great usability experts, why not make use of them?

FYI I have never logged in ever since..

But I am a frequent on the developer portal of Myspace
PaulGlazowski Correct, they still exist, but are not present on the profile page itself. Hence the title of "App Profile Forums."

Thanks for the clarification!

I work for myspace! I'm more then happy to answer questions about the release or what not...

I have to say that more then half of what you have posted is very inaccuate. But that's okay..

I agree with the poster above that it's hardly easy to compare beta to release, but this is a blog.
