It took place in New Orleans, not Seattle where we live. Corinne was born in New Orleans. When I was in the hospital with her, one night I couldn't sleep. I was sure I could hear my baby crying. This was in the days when new mothers stayed in the hospital for 5 or more days. I rang for the nurse who confirmed that it indeed was Baby Corinne and she brought Baby Corinne to me to nurse. A little later it started to rain, and I went off to sleep, comforted by the sound, as I'm sure Baby Corinne did in the nursery.
