in Comment Spam Explained on Fred BrunelNice post.
Just kidding. I know there is a plugin for Wordpress that is supposed to have a field that shows on the screen, but not when scraped like the spammers do. I haven't used it yet. For my other blogs I just turn moderation on. This works for me anyway as I want to be in touch with my commenters and email them or post a reply to their comment.

in The Pain of Tracking Conversations on Fred Brunel
That sounds like a great idea. you should post that as a comment on Eric's profile. I'm working on a contact system for my blog that worked like a threaded discussion. It will be a private thread and not public. But I like the idea of a public thread tracking system.

in How A Blogger Can Keep 100% Revenue Generated From Text-Link or Paid Review on Espreson
Sounds good. Only problem is how are you going to get the big advertisers unless you have the traffic. The method you described works for ProBlogger because he already has advertisers wanting to pay him directly. So for small blogs the middleman does what they cannot.

in Portable Social Networks on everwas
I use MyBlogLog daily and know what social networks are. I am guessing by portable you are referring to sites like twitter.
I think going mobile with social networks will benefit local business more then internet surfers. Small groups of friends may try it out, but in the end I think mixing portable and land based social networks will fail.

in Web 2.0 Website Promotion on Andy Beard - Internet Business Systems Discussion
I will check out the blueprint. You know that nonofollow text is confusing at first. The double negative using the same word made me thing you were for nofollow not against it. At any rate as far as bloggers go you rock.

in 29% Of Technorati Top 100 Never On Digg Home Page on Andy Beard - Internet Business Systems Discussion
Andy, I like reading about stats and website testing. 29% is much lower then I had thought. digg is not the end all be all for traffic, so 71% of the Technorati Top 100 having made first page on digg was a shock.
Yesterday I was doing research for the 30 day challenge and found that one of my key phrases was not popular in the us. The top 10 for that key phrase was Thiland and other smaller countries.

in I am Drowning in Social Web Sites on The Fatty Talks
Nice collection of sites you have listed there. And that isn't even all of them. Bumpzee & SpicyPage are also good social networks. I visit MyBlogLog every day and the rest once per week.

in How To Blog Effectively on How To Split An Atom
Nice post. The content doesn't match your image. It would have been nice to see an image being built as you got to each section of your post.
I think be yourself is very important. Not just in blogging, but also in networking on the social sites. I find that being yourself works better then trying to fit in.

in How to calculate blog reach & influence? on Vinny Lingham's Blog
I would put inbound hotlinks as #1. You can't trust search engine traffic these days. I would rather have other "A" list bloggers find what I write interesting and link to me.

in 2007/07/11/reviewme-advertorials/ on Mashable - The Social Media Guide
It sounds like ReviewMe is trying to grow in the wrong direction.
As a blogger I don't want to mix content not written by me in with my content. This will just confuse readers.
Why should I risk loosing readers just so an advertiser can get a link?

I love the TAGs feature at MBL. It would be nice to be able to tag everything and then have one place to organize everything.
I joined MBL in December and I am glad to be a part of the Social Network beginning.

I don't think that I even made the "B" list. I do have over 330 people in my MyBlogLog community, so that is good.

HA! Long-term potential? Put it this way: as long as John Chow keeps giving John Cow content to feed off of, then there will ALWAYS be a John Cow dot Com!! I see nothing but wide open pastures ahead!!
