in Dear Twitter, I’m the Type of User You Can Make Money From on Marketing Pilgrim
I would propose that Twitter monetize by adding sponsored tweets for every 100 updates you receive. Users would be able to pay for a premium account that would be free of ads. I think advertisers would pay big money to reach 6 million cell phones. However it can't be overly intrusive, thus the 1 ad per 100 updates and an option to opt out of ads for a small fee.

in Marketing is Everyone’s Job on Duct Tape Marketing
Involving employees in marketing is so important and yet most organizations don't do it. I think involving employees in marketing can make them feel like they are making a valuable contribution to the success of the business, which can be very empowering and rewarding.

in What marketing should learn from the Obama campaign on Christopher S. Penn's Awaken Your Superhero
I agree the marketing strategy was superb. I think the infomercial was the most brilliant tactic. The campaign also got me to donate an additional 30 dollars that I otherwise wouldn't have by offering a free t-shirt, which I still haven't received.

in Your Backpack just got a lot bigger on Duct Tape Marketing
John,
I got really excited when I learned the Vision to Venture conference is coming to Seattle, but unfortunately I'm not a woman so I will not be able to attend. Oh well. Are you planning on doing any other conferences in Seattle?

At the end of the day the most successful person is the one who spends the most time doing what they love and being around the people that they love.

in Book Price Comparison Shopping Tool on Duct Tape Marketing
That's a great tool. A tool I like is my county library's website (www.kcls.org). I can place holds of any book online and then see when it arrives. Then I just pick it up for free. You can get a harvard business school education for the charge of late fees.

in What’s Your Referral Number? on Duct Tape Marketing
I think the best way to create referrals is to treat every customer like they are your only customer and make them feel like they are important to you. And you could always bake them cookies.

in Talking About The Dip with Seth Godin on Duct Tape Marketing
Once again Seth Godin challenges societal norms. We're always taught that quitting is bad. But quitting takes courage. Knowing when to accept failure is a virtue. Perhaps President Bush should read this book.

in Talking to Digg CEO - Jay Adelson on Duct Tape Marketing
Is it just me or did the Digg CEO say that the upcoming features were being kept under wraps, and then later went on TWIT and talked about a feature in the works for showing digs in realtime?
