do they all require you to log into some service before you can use an arbitrary SIP server? all i want is a SIP client with NOTHING else attached.

ecreatures What you need is regular a sip account and thenyou enter your sip id and password in the fring SIP interface (Fring can provide you access to other services also). To get the fring app I just registered me for free on the fring website. For the rest, SIP account, I have my own sip provider. Hope this helps

in From my sponsor: latest hard drives from Seagate on Scobleizer
After you get past reformatting, it turns out that sleep mode doesn't work with Linux and Mac OS X. The drive goes to USB 1 speed after waking up. It's too bad that Seagate quality is going down.

in I’m Calling The 2008 Election on danielmiessler.com | grep understanding

Common people may not know that the moon revolves around the earth but usually have a pretty good sense character. This is why Hilary may lose.

Ron Paul has a very good chance. People need to stop "picking winners" (like you are) and get involved in the democratic process. It's very strange American trait to vote for the politician who is "likely to win".

There's one other factor - election fraud always happens and usually works against the upstart candidate. One starts wishing Ron Paul had some mob connections. Google 'kennedy chicago election fraud', for example.

Did the Roku PhotoBridge play codecs other than MPEG2?

Neuros OSD claims to support many formats

maybe it's not as shiny as an iFawn, but the cool thing about open source systems is that they keep getting better. they don't create artificial barriers. i haven't used a Neuros yet but this looks very, very cool. I'd never buy an Apple or Microsoft device except with the intention to install open software. So yeah, i'm biased. my allegiance is to a concept, not to a company or an aesthetic. open source is a better process for making and using software.

If only there was a way to connect a simple HD tuner, it would be perfect. Neuros should join forces with the people who make the HDHomeRun (http://www.linux.com/articles/61518?tid=117)
or make a simple pluggable usb tuner that works with the OSD, or linux in general.
