I wish someone would talk about ATT's motivations. Corporations don't act out of principle.

Where is the money coming from? Does ATT plan to buy a movie studio or a they being paid by them? Or is it personal? With ATT execs planning to be CEO/CFO/.. or a studio.

A tax is a great idea! Just remember we're licensing ALL music under copyright whether it's downloaded or not and not matter how much it's downloaded. We're talking millions of songs. How much do you think Trent would get then, 1 cent per album?

Google seems in a good position to push online video due to their purchase of YouTube. A distribution method to TVs exists through the AppleTV box, which plays YouTube and other media forms. Actually, YouTube plays on a lot of things. The video quality is not there, but that might be addressed by providing and add-on box to support higher compression.

YouTube provides a very low barrier of entry that would be useful for discovering talent. Commercials could be prepended and revenues split. YouTube is one library. A smart move would be to purchase additional material and support the creation of new material like Revision3 and DLTV.

rkrpmg.com - I haven't seen it but isn't the transcoding anouncement TiVo's version of Videora? Overall, I agree there are many extremely overdue enhancements and the last upgrade seems a little buggy to me. Reeks of developer personnel changes.
