adjust for seasonality.

The recommendation being that due to the summer months, I should anticipate what level of slowdown? 10%, 20% or 50%? I suggest the drop-off seen on almost all the active accounts was much higher than mere seasonality.

what the world needs now is a "Twitter is down, I blame..." page not unlike http://kottke.org/when-obama-wins/ page.

in Photowalking on Sunday on Scobleizer
...and if anyone showing up has the option to park far away and bike in the last mile or three, it'll actually save quite a bit of time. it's not the parking that's a bear (although parking is a bear)...the getting out afterwards has been a clusterf*ck that in some past years where it has taken a couple of hours to get back to hwy 92 from the HMB airport (about 4 miles). one option is to put the bike on the bike rack, park in HMB proper, and ride up the last couple of miles. ymmv, naturally.

pete, great summary; you nailed our reason for being in the line "It’s about giving more control to the user." we think that the next big sea-change in business is that customers are going to *actually* have the tools to control their own interactions with vendors, and the capabilities are starting to become available to make it happen.
re: design
well, they always say "watch what the leaders are doing," so our original design philosophy was really intended to be a "MySpace meets Del.icio.us" thing. :-)
in all seriousness, we've actually redone many of the aspects of the system since you last took a look at it -- we launched a redesigned home page, redesign haystack pages, and, most notably, have *completely* revamped the tag management UI as a direct result of user feedback over the past few months. we'll continue to do so going forward.
as always, we want to hear the critical feedback, that's how we improve the system! if there are particular aspects of the experience that we can improve, we always want to hear about it from our customers.
thanks again.

in The changing face of traffic (the car and truck kind) on Scobleizer
robert - google maps mobile overlays traffic. even on my crappy little samsung clamshell phone, it works great. nationwide coverage, too, on the traffic -- i was presenting in DC last week, called up gmaps and there was the traffic on the beltway. it works pretty well.
also for us, 511.org is decent. but the best site for coastside traffic is barry parr's coastsider:
http://www.coastsider.com
check the links on the right sidebar. this is my fave:
http://lcp.sanmateo.org/trip/current.html
real-time scrollng traffic times over the hill and up to montara.

Speaking of Devil's Slide, Barry Parr has been doing an *incredible* job reporting on what's going on with his Coastsider project. The key link:

Travel times and maps are linked from the right side of that page as well.
If travel times are > 30min from Hwy280 and you're coming from Woodside or points south, bail out at Woodside Road (Hwy 84) and come over the top. It'll drop you onto Hwy 1 at San Gregorio, and is a great drive in a sports car. It's 45min (consistent) from Buck's. And you can stop off at the San Gregorio Store ( http://www.sangregoriostore.com/ ) for a cool refreshing beverage on the way as you hit the coast.
