There's also Folkstr, developed by your countrymen, which does a similar thing:

Neil, the DTW blog is a great case study on how to use blogging effectively. They're good folk too and I mean Clive no disrespect about their main site as it was probably made a few years ago when 'we' knew no better ;-) (I include myself in the 'we' as a fellow business owner)
Hopefully Neil, you will help companies such Kon Tiki avoid hiring firms who 'market' them via blogs like this one:
http://www.blogtext.org/TikiHutte/article/17447...
...or even worse, this one:
http://tikihutte.wordpress.com/
These are just 2 examples of a recent blog 'campaign' by the same 'marketing' company ;-)

Good stuff Neil, from a tech point of view do you intend on using Wordpress MU to run this?
The other thing about blogging is the blogs can end up being better than the actual website. Point in case is this one:
http://www.discovertheworldblogs.com/
Their main website is a nightmare to navigate and the white text on black is troublesome. The blog on the other hand is fresher.
I wonder if by using blogging their case, it will inform the creative direction of their main site?
If not, then it should.

in Forget the trouser press, I want an iMac in my room on The Travel PR Blog
It's a shame Apple don't do trouser presses, but if they did you could probably expect to see overnight queues in Regent Street.

in Guidance: Calling the Macbook faithful to prayer on The Travel PR Blog
Not at all, it looks great on my Arne Jacobsen sideboard, with my Mies van der Rohe 'Barcelona' chair in the corner.
Anyway, installed Guidance on my machine so that's me on the CIA's most wanted list, I suspect ;-)

in Trolley dolly strips for charity. Nice seats says Travel Weekly! on The Travel PR Blog
Of course, the shock isn't so much the content of the calendar but the fact that the usually rapacious Ryanair have done it for charity ;-)

I share your love for the sound of call to prayer too, ever since first my Morocco experience back in the eighties when riads still had some charm.
However, my needs are satisfied by this object:

Off to look at the Guidance app now, cheers for the tip ;-)

in WordPress dazzles for St Pancras: a travel blog with style on The Travel PR Blog
Now THAT is very inspiring!
I've seen some amazing work using WP recently but I feel people still don't 'get it'. They lack vision and the sad thing is, I doubt they'll ever 'get it' and if when they finally do, WP will be old hat and we'll have moved on to Web 4.0
I try to be careful when explaining RSS, xml, mash-ups etc to people but I was knocked back lately when someone asked me what a 'sidebar' was (in the context of a blog layout)
That made me realise there's still some way to go and even though I'm careful when using jargon, explaining what a sidebar is just sounds patronising, or so I thought until now.

Neil, I noticed the delicious.com thing recently too. They kept that quiet or did I miss something?
I can understand it I suppose, but I prefer the domain name hack, just to be bl**dy awkward ;-)

That's something for me to look forward to as my son Archie is only 2.
If he was 5 I would also expect to see a sketch of a computer but with "del.icio.us" in the middle.
And I wouldn't put it past him to get the dots in the right place ;-)

I don't think we're going to bust our gut pitching TiPs to the general public, they don't seem to have taken RSS on board. We have 3 times more people subscribing to our content feed via email, rather than a newsreader. That tells you something.

Well written yes, but they've set up an email address? Why not set up a blog for people to pass on their messages AND, like you say, run a continuous update?

in Hotels can flag their latest TripAdvisor reviews on The Travel PR Blog
I don't know about being brave enough, but would they know how to install a web feed ?
I came across a site for a private villa rental in Greece and was amazed to see they displayed some disparaging testimonials. What was interesting was they'd responded to the bad remarks by stating what they'd done, or intended to do, to remedy the problem for future guests.
It was refreshing to see and stood out from the usual glowing feedback you often see populating on-line guestbooks/testimonials.

in Google Video adds YouTube content to its search results on The Travel PR Blog
I searched Google today for Noordhoek Beach and was surprised to see someone's Flickr profile appear in results. Page 2 but still pretty high up.
Made me wonder why not just travel companies and holiday rental owners, hotels and B&Bs aren't thinking of this. I can see this being one area of social media, that if done right, could bring rewards.
Of course, they won't do it right though, will they?

in Brighter new year; new Business Life opportunities on The Travel PR Blog
Looks like I've stumbled upon a good resource here. We 'think' we're working on something special here which we're aiming to launch middle of year.
It's travel 2.0 in its attitude, not because it has any travel 2.0 bells and whistles such as Google Maps (it may have).
We're planning to open something up that has thus far been closed and turgid (if you know what I mean)

in Someone tell British Airways about RSS on The Travel PR Blog
Anyone re-launching their website without RSS these days is like buying a new car but opting not to have wing mirrors (it's not but you know what I mean)
Even Tescos has RSS. This is great news and particularly for our project. Why? Because they are pushing it to the mainstream.
The singular most important aspect of our project is our RSS subscribers i.e. how many? It's what we measure foremost as there's a long term plan. Not how much money we made this month.
