You can tell you're getting more comfortable with it compared to the first video. And you answered my question very well. I doubt I'd want to spend months on end in the jungle with a half built wall/screen, but for the higher range that would work for me. I'm paying about 700 a month now where I'm at.

And I died laughing at the end during your brain fart haha. If we weren't business owners ourselves, would we even worry about that - or even know what it means? We'd more than likely just use the service and leave it at that. If it closes, it closes. I try to use products/services as if I wasn't a business owner. I would have to disagree with the bad though. If you're a local business and you're offering a freebie for an even like the world series, or voting or something similar, I'm sure the local news (tv, radio and newspapers) would eat it up to give out the information on it. I don't think you'll get national exposure for a local campaign, but local business is always good business :)

Re: The Twitter-Monster is hungry. I seen this blog post in my reader and went "wow, I'm not the only one thinking it" :)

You're definitely right. A lot of times, bloggers think that their design is ok as a free theme that 20+ other blogs related to their topic which is completely false. Not that I don't like those sites (I follow mashable more than techcrunch) but I just don't feel the need to have their logo and column in my tweetdeck app.

And for the "helping new twitter users" part, I have to call bullshit. I see this as a blatant advertisement for both websites and also for tweetdeck (they get the added bonus of these two gigantic websites talking about them more). I've talked to seasoned twitter users who find tweetdeck hard to understand at times and with the added stuff they've done in their new upgrade, it's even worse for them.

Re: What Happens When an Agnostic Follows the Bible Literally for One Year?

Hello Tim,

I am going to be running a special deal for design clients and will be donating 25% of all sales to your NEPAL school building fundraiser. Something like vonage, but different area codes.

You can also use www.kall8.com or another 1-800 service so you don't give out your personal number but also appear larger because "hey, they have an 1800 number".

Great article.

Mike

Re: A Pseudo-Sugar Skull: From Start to Finish.

This is an awesome tutorial. I agree with Paul above me. Pidgin.im does well in syncing all of our IM clients together so we don't need to have 10 programs open at once. Now, if it could add twitter and a couple other items, it would be a god-send to me.

For the non-tech-savvy user, all of these options are going to overwhelm at first, but for those of us 'in-the-know' it's a great time to be social. Mainly because not every consumer is wrapped up in Social Media, so they would miss out on the offerings, just like they are now. They're not worried about deals on wordpress templates, or 100 dollar hosting plans for an entire year, ect.

With social media, it works with the smaller businesses because we're crafting our efforts and being helpful first (at least I hope we all are). From there, the trust comes into play and when people trust you, your thoughts and your recommendations, it makes the selling aspect much easier.

Re: My Site Dressed in Thesis

I LOVE IT!

I personally love the links in the footer. As a jack of all trades myself I struggle to label myself as one specific thing. If I say I'm a blog designer - people don't know that I'm also a writer and move on (if they're looking for a writer). If I say I'm a writer - people don't know that I'm also a blog designer and move on (if they're looking for a designer). Its hard to define yourself and as you said, I am just going to do. They do grow over time, so if there's only zeros now, give it time - people will soon chime in. You can also try the technique that asks a question at the end of the article. Spike your readers interest in conversation.

Re: What Storytellers Can Do In Real Time

I like the idea behind this post - it's definitely true. Same family, same house, same parents, different ways of being raised. I grew up with the ability to go outside and play, run around, get dirty and get into trouble every now and then. On the other hand, my brother had a heart defect when he was born and was sheltered. My mother would always explain to me that she "didn't want to force him out of his shell".

When you compare the two of us, it's like night and day. I am loud and grateful while he's the type to kick around rocks and stare at the floor or mumble out awkward replies that just seem a bit weird.

I think by doing things with your kids to help them become more outspoken in other areas, it should/could/would translate into being grateful as well. I'm just sharing my advice and things I've seen work/not work. More people need to play the right roles.
