in Twitter Wants to Please’em All on Marketing Pilgrim
I really do *not* get why removing the feature was a more desirable option than just making it clearer (for new users) what it actually does. A service should never take away features just because part of the userbase doesn't understand it!! That's ludricous!

I'm particularly upset because I pruned my Following List *specifically* so I could turn that feature ON, in an effort to discover my friends' friends and now it's not even available to me!

There has been enough noise about it on Twitter that I'll be shocked if they don't re-instate the feature...

in Does Social Media Site Reliability Matter? on Social Times
now that i've read your post... ^_~

i think both - i think to some, it matters and to others, they're just making a lot of noise. i've found that people who suffer from chronic feelings of entitlement complain the loudest. but people who appreciate a service get bummed about downtime but don't let it affect their loyalties. when i'm happy with a site, i come back in spite of the downtime. but i also complain a little bit. ;]

Facebook does have a way to filter out newsfeeds though -- you can hear less about certain people and more about others.

in Is Plurk an Alternative to Twitter? on Social Times
i like it. i use twitter primarily because it's mobile and as a mother of a 6 mo. old, so am i. but plurk is fun to sit down to for a while. if *feels* more like a giant chat room to me than a micro-blogging site but i have a feeling they're working on some changes that will add simplicity and hopefully even mobile functionality.

for now, i would consider myself an early adopter -- i jumped on the plurk bandwagon because i'm sick of waiting for a jaiku invite. we'll see where it all goes. and maybe i'll fall off the bandwagon before long. after all, i don't have a lot of time for sitting at my pc. i even BLOG from my phone. :p
