In AZ where I live we have Prop 102, which is similar to Prop 8. They call it- get this- "Yes For Marriage", and would also amend AZ's constitution to state marriage is strictly one man and one woman.

But, as you know, these propositions have absolutely nothing to do with marriage and everything to do with fear and discrimination. I blogged about it myself on our main newspaper website, and the reaction was actually a better mix than I thought.

http://www.azcentral.com/members/Blog/Dani8600/...

It's such a pointless issue, has no bearing on anyone's life at all. Yet, if these propositions pass, could change so many. Simply by the fact that it shows that it's acceptable to discriminate against others. Definitely a backwards path.

Keep up the fight!

Re: Anyone Want A Station ID?

You are on our playlist often at the station here in AZ... we'd love a station "Idd" ;)

Usual tag is "Modern Rock KWSS 106.7 FM"

Thanks- you are awesome!

~Dani
tsdiva@gmail.com

Re: Tonto Natural Bridge Closed

I was very sad to hear about this. Do you want your money to help pay for a candidate's advertising (most likely)- or do you want change.

I vote change.

I linked to this post on Twitter too! It's a good thing to do,, yes, but think about it. A very progressive person like me- really if I don't vote is it going to matter here in Gilbert? Not really.

I'm not a fan of silencing anyone who wants to speak up about their government, whether you vote or not. Voting doesn't give you any more rights to do so than anyone else.

That being said, I am still heading to the polls!

Dani´s last blog post..Headlines from Democracy Now 3/10/09

Re: VOTE! Your actions with your words definitely give you credibility. I'd also be the first to suggest to that whining person that perhaps if you do want change, that maybe you do go vote, or even run for office yourself.

On the other hand there are also many who do nothing but vote, usually without being informed and knowing why they are out there at the polls in the first place. As long as they vote, they think they have done enough. It makes voting a very passive way of being involved, which I feel is counterproductive. I wish more people were actively involved in their local politics.

Dani´s last blog post..The danger always starts at home, a rich terrorist

Re: (Un)followers. When someone tweets "welcome to all my new followers!" then lists 4 or 5 @____ so everyone sees. There is an exception if there is someone who follows you that you would like to 'introduce' others too. But not every. single. one.

Send them a DM saying hi. In this chick's opinion, political-correctness is a rather silly concept.

Men and women are different. We have different genetic make-ups, in order to appeal to the opposite sex (for the most part). There is nothing wrong with someone having a thing for women in sundresses.

My real beef with this beyond how women dress, is "We get nothing." I honestly don't think that's the case, although as I said up at the top in the comments I do agree this generation has become decidedly lazier. Maybe this is a more relevant issue to discuss?

Re: Pro-Life or Pro-Choice, this is wrong

Yes, it is a big underhanded. It causes certain reflection, over how you started, and how far you've come.

I think I am currently in limbo between Conscious Competence and Unconscious Competence. I am sure I know it and I'm doing it, but only in my last few shows have I just hit record and just done it. However, the biggest thing for me is, I am _comfortable_ just doing it. It really is just like taking a step towards a higher.. consciousness, if you will. :-)

Wonderful blog you have here!

Re: If You Knew “Then” What You Know “Now” … ?

Great question!

http://societyfans.blogspot.com/2007/03/if-i-kn...

Re: Am I The Only One Not Interested In The “Public Radio” Quest? The news on public radio has always been more liberal. No, I have no clue of the rules, but I do know what is required for the first round. I'm also cutting them some slack because it's the first year they have ever tried this.

I have no illusions, or stars in my eyes at this either. I'm just going to do what I love to do- talk and bring some truth to listeners.

If we want the concept of public radio to remain where it should be- in the publics control- then wouldn't this perhaps be a good thing? Besides, if it doesn't work, and it's somehow shady on the part of CPB, I'd be the first and the loudest in calling the bluff.

So what's the harm? :)

Re: Am I The Only One Not Interested In The “Public Radio” Quest? They are also stating that rules will be posted before the first round begins on the 16 of April.

I imagine that yes, they are working on driving traffic and interest in the contest, which is why the big online media push happened. I see no harm in that. Heck really it isn't costing anyone a dime, just perhaps some time. Time that we're spending online anyway. :-)

So, I'm willing to stick it out and see what happens. I do agree in the hope that it doesn't backfire on them, because although I have no big starry-eyed dreams of getting the show prize out of this, I know there are probably many who do.

It will be quite interesting to see how it all plays out!
~D

Re: How do you start your Podcast?

"From my spiderhole in Arizona, this is the Truth Seekers podcast.
