It would be useful to use Facebook for all sorts of communication - IM, EMail etc...

But on the other hand it kinda scary from the privacy prospective that **ALL** of people's communication would be stored in the same database!

I know several people who first closed their account but then changed their mind and reactivated it. I am sure they appreciated having all of their info the same as when they left it.

So I think that the data should be preserved for a period of say 6 months after deactivation of the account just in case people decide to come back to Facebook.

Don't forget that you can collapse application boxes and their collapsed state will carry over from profile to profile. This way you can ignore applications YOU don't care about as opposed to the profile owner.

If FB email client had all the features of my current client which is Yahoo Mail, I'd definately switch.

I have yet to see so many applications requests at the same time. Maybe the problem is that you're too backlogged in responding to them? This has never been a problem for me. But than, I don't have 48 pending friends requests either...

I think that when people join a regional network, Facebook should either default to not having the profile exposed to everyone in that network or warn the user that their profile will be visible to everyone in that network and offer the option to change that right when they join.

Having your profile exposed to everyone in a college network may make sense, but to everyone in New York - it does not!
