Hari.. you can try copying my robots.txt. its kinda optimized.
Make sure that you've got the Sitemap generator also installed.
Currently I have the sitemap generated only for the posts, if i include a lot more like archives, categories etc.. there have been an increase in supplemental results.

As per the Joost Pals, they have informed that it may take 2 weeks before I start receiving the Invites. I have been invited directly by them just a couple of days back. Still.. I keep on checking my Token counts in Joost Box. Once Arrived - time to share! :)

I could see a great improvement in my Technorati blog-standing. My earlier rank were somewhere in 75K and today it is 53K !. That's approximately a +20,000 points on the Technorati ranking.

Thanks flasm. Truly, I did not care much about when I started this blog on this domain. I used to write under Blogspot, JRoller and Wordpress domains and thought I should keep everything in one place. That's how VinodLive! started(Jan 2007). You can see most of my posts prior to Jan 2007 are imported from my previous blogs.

As for Tips.. I don't have many. ;)
1) Write unique content frequently
2) Ping your site with Pingomatic after every post
3) Use Meta Tags within post and title(sometimes)
4) Use Google Analytics to track traffic
5) Create a robot.txt file and sitemap.xml file
6) Use Google WebMaster to keep track of your site index
7) Get a Theme which loads the content first, not the sidebars
8) Get your blog to use Dynamic Titles
9) Comment on widely read blogs with Your blog information in the name
10) Keep the categories in the homepage
11) Use trackbacks to reference blogs
12) Give multiple options for RSS Subscription.
13) Participate frequently in more generous blogger's discussions. They may give you a link back. Never ask.
14) If you feel if you've got something really very Interesting - tip a Technorati Top-10 Blogger.

This is what I think I did with my blog till now. I can't recollect anymore now!. .

This post was done couple of months back. A few have been added and removed these days. Pageload time is definitely affected if you've got more and more plugins. esp. the ones like UTW slows down quite a bit.

No, it is already available of most of the N-Series Phones including Series 60v2 and V3(like N80) phones. Even though E61 was a Series 60v3 phone, because of the different screen orientation, it was not available yet.

@Sridhar: Except for the occasional IP acquisition using DHCP delays, there haven't been any major issues.

I am sure WiMAX is the future of Wireless Broadband - espcially once WiMAX enabled Nokia Handsets rolls out in 2008. I would assume Reliance would allow us to share the existing home-broadband with the roaming mobile WiMAX then.

If you can live with the occasional glitches of Reliance, You can boast of being an early adopter in future ;). I must also say that, Reliance DO deliver their promised bandwidth on WiMAX consistently without fail.

You are correct Ambuj. It was frustrating initially to always call up the customer care to 'reset'/'release' your account everytime you forgot to 'logout'. Now the problem seems to have gone away.

Unfortunately google does not have a native google talk client for Symbian. But all your Google Talk messaging needs can be fullfilled by using Fring. Just go to Fring.com and send an SMS to the their designated number. As a reply you will get a link (OTA) to the Fring application.

Fring is completely Free of cost. But to use it you should be having Full-GPRS connection on your phone. Airtel or any other service provider would charge for only the GPRS connection. Fring can be used to make FREE calls to USA and to anyone who is using an IM like Yahoo or MSN.
If you directly want to make FREE calls to landlines and Mobile phones in USA or many other countries, I would suggest using TruPhone. It works excellent with E61 / E61i. Fortunately even TruPhone is Free. You can get TruPHone from www.truphone.com

@Balu: I am as serious as Mr.Jobsness!. I am using iPhone as my primary/one-and-only phone from yesterday. It has been unlocked more than a month ago and will work perfectly with ANY GSM network.

I have had enough with Reliance WiMAX. Their Service is completely unreliable. Despite repeated requests their service men never turned upon time. Those who came had no clues. The server disconnection issues still persist. Their total implementation of WiMAX is just too immature. WiMAX is all about higher bandwidth and better last mile connectivity. But Reliance is still learning their act.

I cannot afford to be a guinea pig any more. I have disconnected my subscriptions with Reliance WiMAX.

I would advise my readers here to evaluate their services for themselves and decide.

First please check the firmware version of your iPhone. From your description it looks like you have the 1.0.2 version. If you have not acqainted with the unlocking procedures I would suggest you to keep the current version. iTunes will not auto update your phone. It would just suggest you to update. You can even turn off the auto update reminder on the itunes. For added peace of mind you can try downloading the older version of iTunes 7.3 from filehippo.com.

Once you are made up your mind to upgrade later, you can do that. But the process is slightly involved. I have made a post on how I upgraded mine.

@Rahul: this whole battery life thing you talked about is not making any sense. The life of any lithium ion battery is dependent on various factors. Though officially you cannot replace the battery yourself, therevare plenty of third party services and battery-jackets which can be used if ever your battery die!. But I am sure that is going to be a few years away:)

Drawing a comparison between a symbian/ppc phone is ridiculous. You get a world of features with an N95 but less usable than an iPhone. The aesthetics and usability of iPhone can only be understood if you start using one. I have had a long stint already with Palms, Pocket pcs and nokias - but trust me the whole iPhone story is different and promising!

You can certainly Jailbreak an out of the box (new) 1.1.2 iphone, but as of now there is no way to Unlock it using a software solution. Presently You need to get hold of SuperSIM or any SIM cloning solution to Unlock the 1.1.2 iPhone. If you wait for the release of 1.1.3, there are some good chances of DevTeam releasing a true software unlock. As of now iPhone/iTunes does not support 3rd party applications. So there is no way to install them through iTunes. If you are using this phone in India, it means that your phone is already Jailbreaked and unlocked. Please search for the 'Installer' Application in your iphone, you can find many useful (unofficial) 3rd party applications using that application. The 'Installer' application allows many 'Sources' to be added to get more and more applications. Still, if you prefer to manually transfer applications, use iBrickr. Let me know how it goes.

There is only One Speaker for iPhone!. The other one is the Mic. So you get only Mono output from the iPhone speakers. I would suggest you upgrade to 1.1.1, as the sound output is better with that and as you said rightly, there is an application too to make it sound better. On 1.0.2 i guess you are out of luck with the speaker sound. Still, you van try tinkering with the 'celestial framework' settings.

I have used the EDGE/GPRS on both Airtel and Vodafone networks in Bangalore successfully. It works. The Accesspoint name is 'www'. You need a subscription to 'Full GPRS' not something like 'Airtel Live' etc.
At home, you can have better connectivity using WiFi as Beleuh said!

@Vikram: Yes, the warranty will be void if you unlock the iPhone to be used in India GSM networks. Though most of the Apple products, including iPhone carries a Global warranty, since iPhone is not yet officially launched in India, iPhone in India will not carry any warranty.
We are not yet sure what would be the retail price of an Official iPhone in India - guess it would be around 24K.

I think You are doing something wrong. Please make sure that you keep the Original AT&T; SIM Card during the upgrade process and just replace it with the India GSM SIM card only at the time of AnySIM unlock.

I would definitely advise you to be very cautious while buying iPhone from USA for the purpose of unlocking and usage in India. The issue is that the latest iPhones which you buy from the iStores will be having the firmware versions of either 1.1.2 or 1.1.3 - which are NOT yet software-unlockable. You can definitely hacktivate it by downgrading it to 1.0.2 and then progressively upgrading to 1.1.2 and unlock it using TurboSIM or any other TurboSIM clones. But usage of TurboSIM may be banned by the Govt. or your Telephone service provider.

It is now possible to Unlock OTB 1.1.2 / 1.1.3 iPhones. Geohat has done the 'impossible'!

Here is a simple tutorial I found:-

Download these:
gunlock and the secpack from http://iphonejtag.blogspot.com/ or the blog
the 4.02.13 fls from http://george.zjlotto.com/index.php/baseband/

2. Downgrade your phone to 1.0.2.
irrespective of wher u are 1.1.1/1.1.2 otb not otb
press and hold power and home button untill u see the screen go blank , leave the power button as soon as the screen turns black, (set up the speaker volume on ur pc to high) as soon as the screen goes black u'l hear a sound, now after abt 10 secs holding down the home button u'll hear another sound , now in itunes it will say phone in recovery mode and all, in itunes, hold the shift key (alt key in mac) and downgrade sequentially to 1.1.1 if you were in 1.1.2 or from 1.1.1 to 1.02 (some will say go directly to 1.02 I prefer this) once ur on 1.02
jailbreak and activate it , use ibrickr or watever u like.
install installer.app through ibrickr or watever, update it, install
community sources,bsd subsystems,open ssh, mobile terminal, etc etc
now use win scp/ibrickr and upload all files to usr/bin
files are gunlock/secpack/fls file for 1.1.2/gunlock.c

use putty or mobile terminal to execute the following commands

launchctl unload -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.CommCenter.plist

gunlock secpack ICE04.02.13_G.fls"

launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.CommCenter.plist

5. Enjoy your 1.1.2 OTB unlocked iPhone

A Simpler Method:-
1. Open Instller on your jailbroken 1.1.2 OTB and install OpenSSH and Term-vt100 (under System)
2. Connect via WiFi to your iPhone using WinSCP
3. Copy all the files (gunlock, ICE04.02.13_G.fls and secpac) to /usr/bin
4. Set permissions of gunlock to 755 in WinSCP
5. Put iPhone in Airplane mode (IMPORTANT!)
6. Execute the following commands in Terminal:

launchctl unload -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.CommCenter.plist

gunlock secpack ICE04.02.13_G.fls

launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.CommCenter.plist

7. Restart iPhone and throw your ***sim out of the window

@Ashish: You posted at a wrong context!. Since you did not detail the problem stating what 'errors' occured - I can only suggest some generic solutions:-
1) Please verify you can actually join the WiFi network. I mean you have the credentials to join the network.
2) Please create a WiFi Access point in your Nokia E-61 after you join.
3) Select this Access point if you want to browse. Nokia's Web Browser would show you a list of Access Points when you try to connect to the Net.
4) GMail attachments cannot be directly viewed. You can download them and view with 'QuickOffice' Software. I think it comes pre-installed on Nokia e-series.

2) Jailbreak and unlock using ZiPhone
3) Restart your iPhone
4) Install the BSD subsystem, OpenSSH and Community Sources in this order.
5) Restart your iPhone
6) Install AppSupport 1.1.3

The BSD sub system is more than 6MB in size. So installing over EDGE/GPRS may not be feasible. Get them through a WiFi connection.

I think, You don't have the proper firmware on your phone now. Can you just 'RESTORE' your iPhone using the latest 1.1.4 firmware from Apple?. There is no Restore button on the iPhone.
If you are not able to connect to download the firmware, just download the 1.1.4 firmware from http://appldnld.apple.com.edgesuite.net/content...
Then just press the [shift] key on your PC and click on the 'Restore' button on the iTunes, Point to this downloaded file and wait for it to finish. After the phone is successfully restored, Keep your iTunes open, at the same time just run ZiPhonen again to Jailbreak+Unlock.

Hello Abhishek!
Congratulations on your iPhone. I am sure you will love it to bits!
As far bluetooth goes, unfortunately iPhone does not support many bluetooth profiles. The BT can only be used for connecting to handsfree now. After June this may change as more development will happen on iPhone.
For connecting iPhone to the Internet in India using EDGE/GPRS on Vodafone/Airtel/IDEA etc.. you will need to subscribe for the FULL internet package with them - not the regular WAP ones.
The APN (Mobile Office, Hutch Access) can be set by going to Settings->General->Network option on your iphone.
The [Installer] program is NOT provided default by Apple, but by the cool guys at NullRiver. Once you have got the Internet working on your iPhone, you can use this Application to Install MANY wonderful things like Voice Recorder, Video Recorder(not-so-good right now), Games, Themes etc.

All Aluminium notebooks must be great. But kind of not sure about the WiFi reception in that case. But my iMac (part aluminium) is great at reception.

@Saleem: You cannot use the iPhone as a USB/Bluetooth Dialup modem at present. Instead you can create a Ad-Hoc WiFi network between your WiFi enabled Laptop and iPhone. Once you set this up, you can share the iPhone's Internet connectivity to the Laptop. You should be able to browse on your laptop then. This process is known as iPhone Tethering.

1) It is not mandatory to have BSD and OpenSSH if you are not planning to install any third party applications ( like games,other utilities) on your iPhone. Most of the third party applications requires BSD on your phone. OpenSSH is required if you are planning to do some file transfer between your PC and the iPhone using the SSH over the WiFi. This too is not mandatory.

2) You need to subscribe to the Full GPRS package with Airtel. Ask for Airtel MobileOffice. Once activated from their end, You can go to [settings]->[general]->[network]->[edge]->type in the APN as 'airtelgprs.com'(Without quotes) and leave the username/password blank.
Then you can open the Safari browser and browse the internet further.

@Faruk: I would suggest waiting till the iPhone 3G launch in India. Moreover it looks like the Activation process of the iPhone 3G has to be done at the store itself. That leaves you with only one option to buy from USA. The totally network-independent unlocked iPhone 3G which will cost around >$400 instead of the $199. Again the latest firmware though jailbroken and unlocked, would require some good field tests once the actual devices are out.So WAITING is the keyword for now!

@chetan: By default iPhone's Safari browser does not support downloading of files. Though using a the 'Safari Download Plugin' which is available through the Installer, you could download the files on to your device.

@noopy: Outgoing call issue is uncommon with iPhone. I have never come across this. I would think it is a Network operator issue, rather than a problem with the iPhone. Still you could do a restore of the iPhone to see if the problem persist.

@Satti: If you are looking for Wireless Internet on the Go on a mobile, Everything is equally bad!. I would suggest getting a BSNL EVDO Modem if you could. 1. Fully Restore your iPhone with the 1.1.4 image directly from Apple.

2. Use iLiberty to Jailbreak it. Install the BSD, Installer, BootNeutR etc.

3. Then use BootNeutR to Unlock.

You can have your iPhone SMS backed up (by SSHing to your iPhone) by just saving the file /private/var/root/Library/SMS/sms.db to your computer. You can later replace the file to the same place on your iphone.

For Contacts and Appointments, just use the Sync Option available on iTunes to backup to Outlook/similar.

I would suggest you to sync all your personal data(Contacts, Calendar) using iTunes to Outlook/iCal before upgrading.

But be warned that, NONE of your 1.1.4 applications(Games, Themes etc) will currently work on the new firmware. You will have to wait till the developers port them to new firmware. @Vivek: Your current settings are perfectly allright. Nothing more to do manually!. If your jailbreak+unlock process had gone without issues, EDGE too should work without issues.

If you are still not able to get EDGE working, Upgrade your firmware to 2.0.x. You can do it easily using the QuickPwn software. Please see the Link above for a graphical tutorial.

Btw, it is worth upgrading to 2.0 firmware - because of the Push Email, App Store applications etc..

@Abhishek Anand: Your phone's baseband will not be upgraded as part of the upgrade process - unlike the 3G phones. So your existing unlock will remain. Even otherwise, the QuickPwn is intelligent enough to automatically invoke the BootNeutr if unlock is required. You don't have to do anything manually or download anything in Cydia etc. The QuickPwn will do everything for you!

@Abhishek: Relax!.. No need to go back to 1.1.4 and use iLiberty/ziPhone etc. Follow these two steps:-
0) Set the auto-unlock in settings to 'Never'.
1) Open Cydia. Search for BootNeutR
2) Install BootNeutR. Run it.
3) In BootNeutR's options, set:-
Version : 4.6
Neuter: ON
FakeBlank: Off
Unlock: ON
Then click on the 'Flash' button.

This should unlock the phone for you. Let me know how it goes.

@Rishab: I have not seen a separate EDGE settings screen in 2.0 firmware where you can manually set the APN. If you have MobileOffice or HutchAccess activated, iPhone will automatically load the operator settings. Sometimes your iTunes itself will set it on the iPhone - with a prompting to you.

Try doing a hard reset (power + home for longer till it reboots auto) and connect it to the computer through iTunes. See if it is identified. If so do a complete restore from the stock/new firmware file.

Hi Vibhav: Myself and Most of friends use only the White One (EC 168C) - which is working without any issues. I've heard that EC1260 was having some reception issues. The Big One (ZTE AC871) is not so portable as the USB ones. Because of its form factor, ZTE may have better signal reception.
It is not possible to use these devices as a 3G Modem because CDMA's EVDO is based on a completely different network/technology. You will have to stick with Reliance as long as you use these.

Most of the officially unlocked ones works only within the country of purchase. This earlier policy was known as 'country lock' - by Apple. But I've heard that lately Apple have removed such restrictions. But you may want to reconfirm.
In any case, your iPhone has no international warranty, so you may as well unofficially jailbreak and unlock it. There are good instructions at http://www.iclarified.com/

I fear you did not get the actual plot of this platform. What you saw is a 'place holder'/reference implementation. Please do not any assumptions of this being the finalized UI metaphors. The UI, Phone functionality, Extra-phone features, etc.. etc.. can ALL be altered to suit your needs/tastes with this platform. Understand - this is an SDK - a Great one at it(I've got my Europa loaded already with ADT and is coding away happily) - for the ultimate+unified mobility platforms.

Why so much of fuss around a toolbar afterall?
There have been plenty which offered the world for you if you install any.
By default, these toolbars cannot function without 'tracking' your web usage patterns. If you are paranoid about security, you must take a backstep on any of these.
As for the money generation, apart from intrusive ads and slow redirected searchpages(as in Techcrunch partnered Conduit Toolbars), there have been no other option - and none will be.
Then you might ask, What if I try something if does not hurt?. Answer: I have not yet seen any passive income scheme which 'really' works. Good luck with your toolbar.

And presently only 28% of my traffic is through Search Engines. The majority is from Forums, StumbleUpon etc.

I had a total of 324 comments on two of my joost posts in my blog. Had to close the comments because serving the joost request request individually was too time consuming. Yet I personally invited around 350 people to Joost. People go the invite and left!. They never came back to help the people under their comment - despite a message on the invitation.

Link Units have never been my favorites because of the following reasons:-
1) Placing it on the header - may appear to be 'tricking'
2) Needs 2 real clicks to monetize
3) Some users when shown a Link filled page after the first unit-link click, may consider the site to be spammy.

Great to know about such a good event. I have had a recent incident of corporate resistence on wiki adoption when weighed in against MS-Sharepoint based collaboration. Each has it's virtues.
