Try doing a hard reset (power + home for longer till it reboots auto) and connect it to the computer through iTunes. See if it is identified. If so do a complete restore from the stock/new firmware file.

@Umesh: You need to unlock your G1 - unless you bought the new Android Developer Phone 1(Already unlocked and rooted as mine) - which I don't think is yours; as you bought from Frisco.
You can refer to the XDA-Developers forum to see how to unlock the G1 for other networks.

@noopy: you may try to put the iPhone in the DFU mode first. Then iTunes should recognize your iPhone.

@Hussain: For getting themes on your iPhone, just install the "Winterboard" program available through Cydia. Also install the "Normal" and "Buuf2" WinterBoard Themes through Cydia. Then Just open the Winterboard application on iPhone, and select your favorite theme (Check it, uncheck others).

@Prem: Yes!. You need to unlock your phone before using it in India with Airtel/Vodafone.

Install the "Safari Download Plugin" from Cydia. More than Installer, Cydia has more momentum these days. If you don't have it re-jailbreak using the QuickPwn/WinPwn tool.

@Saleem: You can forward SMS using the iRealSMS software available through Cydia.

@Mayuresh: iPhone 2.0 firmware does not require you to do anything manually to activate and use EDGE. Make sure you have subscribed to FULL-GPRS with your provider.

@chetan: I've tried call-merge once on iphone, it worked for me. Maybe a network issue for you.
