in Why It’s OK for Newspapers to Die on The Technology Liberation Front
I have to disagree. The newspaper organization is the news gathering engine that drives all news, bloggers and TV included. Without them there is no news gathering. True creative destruction leads to better more efficient ways of doing things but in this case the loss of the 50 cent newspaper in lieu of a $300 I phone means a major portion of society will not have access to the media outlets. Not to metion the impermanance of the net based news outlets. Maybe the newspaper as industry dies, but regional news gathering organizations must survive - maybe an AP for the net, if we are to continue getting the news.

in There Will Be No Bailout for Old Media on The Technology Liberation Front
Do not forget that these "old media" corporations do almost all the news gathering - an exspensive endevour that the new media repackagers exploit. If the old media guys were smart they could charge for their services. They say information wants to be free; But if thats the case than there wont be anyone to gather the information in the first place.

in Did You Read this in The Paper Today?: Biggest Drop Ever for Newspaper Revenue in 2007 on The Technology Liberation Front

Although there are thousands and thousands of news outlets accross many media now days, the primary task of news reporting and content generation is done by paper press still. And less and less each year.
