Hi---Jim:

I just had an incidence today on eBay. I recently sold an item, and received an email from buyer, that he was dissatisfied with them item and wanted a replacement. as i am a fairly new seller, i first freaked out and said, :oh my god my carrer at eBay is finished. Im abit over dramatic, so that might have been an over reaction.

But i though about it for awhile, and then decided to shoot an email to said buyer, and let him that i wanted to work things out with him, and handle things between us. as we both have 100% feedback, and dont want any negative scores.

We were both accommodating to each other, we both reached a mutual agreement, and this situation which could have turned out badly, turned out not half bad for both parties.

Good customer services requires:
1.) Action
2.) Speed of Action
3.) Mutual Benefit
4.) Closure

I knew about #2 - changing the anchor text for your blogs but didn't know about the others. I actually used my profile recently for a blog job app.

It is interesting to me how some (new media) types EXPECT a link to your LinkedIN profile as part of a resume and or app package. It is also interesting to me, how there are no examples to go research when one is setting up a resume for blogging, SEO, social media, etc.

Have you any experience with this? Assembling a new media resume.

One popular way to access it is via your cell, so let's say you're at your doctors office waiting to see him/her about a backache you're having. You plan to be there about an hour or so, then you decide you want to grab some grub before picking up my kid from school, etc. But you want to place a to go order as you're pressed for time.

Instead of pulling out your clunky laptop to send someone an email, you pull out your handy dandy (and smaller) CELL PHONE, and use this to send a tweet to the local deli to place your order.

There is also the time Twitter has helped to: land one a gig, to find help (as in hiring someone for a gig), get blog post ideas, catch up on the news, find a local service person, and so on.

In many ways, it is much more useful than Google. Yes i said it.

What about copyright issues? Someone came up with something similar to this for Twitter and now it is no longer in operation.

Can't recall the name though. Essentially people were grabbing tweets from people who didn't want their tweets placed on t-shirts.

IMHO the perfect candidates for a CM position, are bloggers. Because in essense a blogger is just that, a Community Manager.

Bloggers are at the forefront of social media. Experienced bloggers know that no blogger is an island. One needs to make friends, and establish relationships within the blogosphere.

Also any blogger that picks up a blogging book, or reads an ejournal, etc. will soon enough find out that joining and participating in blogger communities is the best way to "make friends" and grow ones blog. The 2 go hand in hand.
It is in the learing curve of a blogger.

Blogging and Social Media are intertwined. So if YOU are looking for a CM, look for an experienced blogger.

I'm an ambivert, which means im half introverted and half extroverted.

I would like to add to this conversation that PRACTICE helps, figuring out who one is and what one is about helps, and if things are not going as planned or the event is uncomfortable, one can also always leave early.

As for planning, you do want to pratice and plan out witty things to say, respond, etc. But dont overdo it, dont come off as robotic and rehearsed. Be casual, be cool, and be ready.

Fact is (some of us), are like Bates from the Bret Easton Ellis movie, American Physco, who are deeply and furiously hurt when someones business card is better looking than ours. That movie always makes me crack up, it is brutally honest.

We all want to shine and come across as "rock stars". Just dont try too hard, let it flow.

Wow! I finally got it.

There are 3 different types of title(s),
1.) Blog Post Title
2.) Title Tag - This is what shows up in Google SERP's.
3.) Post Slug - This is the WP permalink. If you change this in any way, you change your URL, and could possibly direct readers/visitors to a 404.

Awesome! And i have been using the SEO Title Tag plugin, but never really understood what it was for, or what it did. When my main blog was installed for me, the installer added it by default. Now i know. (hehe) Good stuff.

As for changing the blog post title for Googlers, when do you tend to do this. Next day, next week, when?

hey, garrett: i dont think it will deter the hard core bottle drinkers. but what some folks fail to realize is that they are paying a premium for what basically amounts to tap water. so many bottle manufacturers are owning up to the fact that their so called spring water is not so springy after all. (but from public water supplies)

wowza! i take it you dont like dreamhost. i have had them on groovy veg and have not had any problems. will cross fingers and hope it stays that way. one thing i will say is that they have good coupon codes which make getting a plan with them real cheap. but the good thing also is that if they pan out no tot be a good host, you can always switch at the end of your plan. but i hear ya, it takes just ONE bad experience to make a bad impression.

Many green products and services are priced abit higher than other products because it is not widely and readily available just yet. But as being green grows and more folks use eco friendly items, the prices will go down. There are a few resources online to do price comparison on products. One is Shopzilla, others are Google Products (formerly known as Froogle) on a sidenote i really dont know why they changed the name, i really digg the name Froogle.

Anywho, lets get back on topic, another price engine is MySimon. Essentially you type in the product you are looking for (example, CFL bulbs) and they will produce a list of shops that carry the item, and list them by price (high to low or low to high) you choose this. I use Shopzilla all the time, before i shop.

Another great resource for low cost green items, is EBAY. Hope i've helped you some, do bookmark us, and feel free to ask any other questions.

Good point, guys. The fact stands that many simply toss out or go out and purchase a new PC, as soon as it slows down.

But the reasons a PC slows down are so vast and varied. It could be a new resource heavy software you recently downloaded, a widget you added, etc.

When in doubt, go online, do abit of research, and see if maybe adding more memory ( or a hard drive ) is what would speed up your computer.

The prices and technology have yet to come down, but it is headed in the right direction.

There are also solar chargers on the market, which will power up your laptop, and give you some E/R juice. They aren't terribly expensive or have high wattage. This is also another portable eco power option.

The EV is rare and if the owner decides to find an electric battery for it, it just might ride. As i read some of the comments on the auction listing, some were seriously interested in making the AMC Hornet active and drive-able.

So it still might have life in it yet.

Alex, there are several viewpoints here. One is why support the non-eco SUV industry. Another being that there are other (more greener) SUV's, that are roomy and safe. Which was his argument, it was the only "safe and roomy" SUV for his family.

I'm not knocking his choice, but others sure are displeased with the decision. I will tell you i was surprised by it, though. Yes.

I hear ya. I do. We try to cover a variety of environment friendly products in the blog. Some are geared for vegans, and some is not. But we do cover alot of products for vegans. We try and be as inclusive as possible.

As for greenwashing, no doubt, it does exist. We are careful to only write about items of interest to greenies, we dont always hit a home run, im sure. Thanxs for looking out, and do visit again.

The idea here is to re-use what is no longer being used, or no longer works. To re-purpose it. Are people taking good records and making bowls or bracelets out of them? Maybe, but i doubt it. I would say most good vinyl records are owned by collectors. But i hear ya!

Natalie is not hurting for money, i'm sure her Star Wars paychecks are coming along nicely.

With her deep pockets, Portman can easily create just about any shoe line possible. But she is a vegan, and as such she chose to (fund and promote) a business venture, where her personal beliefs and values are part of the equation.

She is supplying high end shoes, aimed at and for vegans. And those who are vegan-friendly.

She doesn't need the money, so it is clear to me, (Te Casan) is about something more than just cold profit.

I missed the Project Runway episode, but will try and catch it on a re-run.

Hey, Freddie: I absolutely agree. To me this is sort of making the item completely UN-RECYCLABLE and 100% destined for the local landfill. I see the art aspect to their idea, but i think leaving the items on the side of the road and or street is the issue.

Why not haul it away to an art space and maybe even display it somewhere. As art should be. Love that you came by.

The Mark Cuban involvement is an interesting one. He didn't come to them, they came to him. Cuban wrote a post on his blog that called for entrepreneurs to present him their ideas, and if he liked it, he would fund and or help them grow.

This is what happened here. They presented their concept and Mark liked it enough to fund. Pretty cool. They were one of several.

I've always been leary of placing the Adsense Ads in the content section, but will try it to see if my CTR skyrockets. I've read this advice elsewhere too, so there must be something to it.

Right now, 90% of the clicks from Groovy Veg come from the ads placed right above each post. So maybe adding more there, will increase earnings.

HaHa. The only reason i have the ad default colors on Adsense ads is because i read somewhere, that people are more trusting of Google ads, when in the default color of blue.

Hmmmm. I actually did have one 338x380 box on the homepage, and just removed it like two days ago, because i didn't like the way it looked. But i didn't have it below the post title, it was above. Maybe that will look better, or maybe i just don't like money. LOL.

I'm totally kidding on that last one, as i do like money, and want more of it. LOL.

I would never bother solely with impressions, as that is a joke. Never even thought of it that way.

I need to find the high paying words for my niche, and they are out there, because at times, i have received almost a dollar, on one click alone. Nice!

I'm starting to see some really good numbers at Groovy Vegetarian.

One thing i notice about some of my other recent projects, (such as a myspace site) is that the CPC is quite low. The way to make money with this type of site is with traffic volume. I suppose i could have found this out, through more research, but it still adds to the overall pot. Plus i plan on selling it in a few months.

I'm also starting to write on a new blog dedicated to yellow goods, and this one also has good CPC. I really think that this blog is going to be way bigger than Groovy Vegetarian, because even though i have like 5 posts on there, it gets daily Google traffic. I just need to add way more content, and it is going to blow up.

I think the Google algorithm has recently gone nuts. I like to think im somewhat savvy with SEO, and with building links, etc.

But i don't understand how a new blog with a few backlinks and no content can rank at 2, when an older more established blog that has loads of backlinks and content ranks at 1.

examples:

www.groovychicago.com (pr 1)

What do you think of this? Can you tell me what tools you use to figure out why something ranks the way it does.

Well the eBook i/m creating is from scratch and i'm not sure how many pages it will be. So far i've amassed 70 plus tips.

It's all on my notepad now. I think i will transfer it all from paper to wordpad, then add it on Google Docs. (format it, etc) Hope to have it done by weekend.

I think the iShare button is cuter and more functional than ShareThis, that is why i added it to Groovy Vegetarian. But i have both, as to provide options to my readers.

1.) How long before you were approved for ads on PredictAd?
2.) Did you create a search engine? or use default one.
3.) Is this compatible with Adsense?

It isn't so easy if you want to monetize it. There is alot of customization and configuration needed, but if one can figure it out, then it should be another excellent monetization tool.

Thanxs for clarifying on the various networking plug-ins, the gem was really in your comments section. As i did NOT know about the nofollow thing with Sociable. New thing i learned today.

I'm pretty sure I have the old dofollow version on my main blog, Groovy Vegetarian. I will remove it at once and use the new and improved "nofollow version" from Joost De Valk.

Now i just have to find it, and hope its the one you're referring to in your comment. You should have included a link to it.

I would also add that every Wordpress blog should with out question add the "Subscribe to Comments" WP plug-in, as it will make it easy for those who leave you a comment, to remember to come back. Invaluable. (for follow-up)

Had not thought of (Google Blog Search) in this manner. But you make a valid point. I have used it before, but i tend to use the main Google search much more.

I really dislike it when i do a search, and nothing current comes up. I tell you another thing, i love using Google, just to learn it, and see how it processes queries. I do searches on it all the time for my blog writing, but i also do a ton of searches just to feel it out. You know.

Also how do you feel about Technorati for getting recent and relevant content from blogs?

I would love to learn how to tweak and or create WP themes. I looked into it briefly a few months ago, as i think its an in-demand skill, and pays decently.

There is a theme i use on my father-in-laws restaurant, called Woodpress. Which in the back end admin area is quite simple, only has like 6 files or so. I'm thinking "hey i can do that", well i would like to. I want to learn how to make a simple one like that one.

Polls and quizzes are probably one of the best ways to make a site interactive.

Another interactive idea is having an "Ask Me A Question" type section. This propels people to immediately think of a question, regardless of whether they ask it or not, they have been "called to action".

My biggest blogging pet peeve is without a doubt the dreaded "comment with anchor text and no name" deal.

Please people leave your freaking name when you leave a comment, and not anchor text. At the very least include your name with your anchor text. But stop with the nameless comments.
