Hmmm. The "Oakland" (read Berkeley) based Pacific Institute? No hidden agenda there, I'm sure. The name "Institute" in any organization's title gives it all away - for both right and left wingers. Can't advance an agenda without a crisis, right?

SATURDAY, MARCH 14, 2009 Roubini: "Reflections on the latest sucker’s rally" by CalculatedRisk on 3/14/2009 09:45:00 PM The linked post is very long ... long even by Roubini standards! This is actually a short excerpt ... From Nouriel Roubini: Reflections on the latest dead cat bounce or bear market sucker’s rally It is déjà vu all over again. We have already seen this Groundhog Day movie at least six times over and over again in the last year or so: the market starts to rally – this time around about 8% in a week - and the chorus of optimists starts to say that this is the bottom of the economic and financial crisis and that we are at the beginning of a sustained stock market rally that signals the true end of this bear market. Next Roubini outlines what he sees as the arguments of the optimists: [H]ere are the arguments of the optimists: 1. While the first derivative of economic activity is still negative the second derivative is becoming positive around the world: i.e. output, employment, demand etc. are still contracting but they are – or will soon be - contracting at a slower rate than in Q4 of 2008. As long as the second derivative is positive rather than negative economic activity will bottom out some time in H2 of 2009 and the recession will be over sooner rather than later.

FRIDAY, MARCH 13, 2009 FICO President: 'Worst to come' for Mortgage Crisis by CalculatedRisk on 3/13/2009 10:14:00 AM "Before we do the credit cards, we are actually not done with the mortgage [crisis] - the worst of that is yet to come in fact. The thing about mortgages is you can predict when they are going to reset and you can sort of see what is coming. We easily have another 12 to 18 months of pretty ugly times in terms of mortgage resetting. ... Credit cards are next." Porter also defends FICO scores as useful (no surprise), and I think he is mostly correct. Unfortunately during the housing bubble, many lenders used creditworthiness (and FICO scores) as the only measure to allow a loan. Historically lenders used the "Three C's": creditworthiness, capacity, and collateral. On capacity, during the bubble, lenders qualified borrowers at teaser rates - or the Neg Am rate for Option ARMs. They didn't consider if the borrower could meet the fully amortized rate. On collateral, lenders just assumed housing prices would increase and 100%+ LTV loans were common. All three C's still matter.

What exactly does a daily jump of the DJIA have to do with local real estate? The DJIA is still UNDER 7000.

Um... K...
So how are you suppose to get 40 bats in there? Do you have to buy them or do they just show up like birds to bird houses?

Doesn't affect me.
And if someone voluntarily wears one of these ties, what is the problem? It is when these are worn involuntarily that there is a problem.
People need to stop trying to be offended.

Evangelical Right/Christinan Fundamentalists and Zionists make strange bedfellows. On one hand Evangelicals are trying to herd the Jews into Israel so that the conditions for Jesus to return will be fulfilled and the "RUPTURE" will happen where people either become Christians or will be killed. On the other hand, the Zionists are using the Evangelical support (fully knowing this final desire of the Christian fundamentalist) for their own prophesies to get fulfilled - the coming of the Messiah. I guess none of them are fooling anyone but themselves with this marriage of convenience.
