Honestly, how do you have time for all of these different things?

I have always been amazed and befuddled by your ability/desire to leap between two dozen different projects all at the same time.

But I'm very glad to see its paying off for you.

Sorry to hear about Micah. Although, I would check and see if any of your neighbors have a Hezekiah hanging around. I hear those two have never really gotten along.

Can you ban anonymous posting? I suppose you never really know who is writing online but that doesn't make "anonymous" tag lines any less annoying. If you want to post on someone else's personal blog be willing to share your name.

I didn't know the SBC was after the CBF again. Does the SBC recognize them as baptists, or Christians for that matter, or are they anathema? Situation sounds mildly similar to the LC-Missouri Synod v. ELCA scenario.

Also, it sadly sounds like average church-life for the past couple thousand years. Very sad.

Thanks for that link. Enjoyed his piece and was glad to see people such as Buckley publicly saying such statements.

I think its a fantastic idea and hope I can eventually work it out to go myself one day. I won't safe this is an easy or safe idea, but I would encourage you to ponder it for a while anot not immediately jump one way or another.

If I came across a Lutheran congregation that regularly said the Hail Mary I don't think I would ever leave...German, Latin, Greek, Hebrew, whatever.

Yes, I know well your view on the pre vs. post Nicea debates. However, I don't believe I see Nicea as quite as decisive a moment as you do. And just for fun, I believe the historical record backs up my views just wonderfully, as well. We have and will continue to look at all of this through a different matrix.

Never saw the movie, but I did read the book. You should know better than most what a load of crap most of it was, historically speaking, however it was quick read and I can see why its such a money-maker.

Are you sure you want to limit yourself? Usually you get bored with focusing on only one thing after a while and are more naturally suited to be able to nibble at various fruit trees of knowledge.

Why am I not surprised that your returning to your baptist roots returns you to studying gnosticism? Haha.

Problematic view for starters because there was no such things as different church "denominations" then. Those are a unique, and some might say sad, American development. Secondly, the Emperors persecuted plenty of people who were in the Orthodox Church just as they did those who were not, and at times the Emperors switched sides amongst the different christians. Over all, however, the Orthodox church had more people martyred by the christian emperors then they did under either the pagan emperors. Point being, the Orthodox church had plenty of people who viewed themselves as being faithful to the Faith while, yes, many emperors used them and others as pawns in their political schemes...hmm, maybe that last part has a modern day parrallel.

Very good article, Sam. Plenty of food for thought as we discuss our education system and as I survey my own education in literacy.

Interesting questions, definitely, but how in the world are they coming up with those conclusions? Nothing more than a potter factory? Hey, anything is possible, but what are they smoking over there?
