I'm a marketing consultant and have been trying to find some good, solid data on viral marketing. I'm interested in the small stories from companies that don't have giant Apple sized budgets. I'm curious about the organic viral activity. What makes a certain blog a hit? Why do some homemade videos get picked up? I've forwarded this article to some clients.

Look, I would have done what you did too. I have been trying to teach my clients about leveraging social media so their brands can interact more with their constituents. I find I have greater credibility if I have tried something myself. I do not proclaim to be a journalist; I am opiner. I say let's stop being so prim and pure and judgmental. Your brand is still solid by me.

Funny you mentioned the Cluetrain Manifesto. I just reread it. When I mentioned it to someone whom I consider a social media player, he shrugged it off and said it was so 90s. I beg to differ!

I Jam, Therefore I Am was definitely the post that spoke to me. I read Animal, Vegetable, Miracle and was so inspired. However, I don't the first thing about canning and neither do my friends. Who wants to come help me?! So far we are chowing down on the CSA goodies we get and we just signed up for the winter program too.
