I guess I'm out of the news loop these days, I never noticed this post until now. Congratulations both to cocomment and to Steph, with all the Web2.0 thingies springing up these days, evangelization is a must :-).

Patrice, I agree - manual trackbacks work very well. And they're much more personal than all that automated stuff anyway. In fact, I think trackbacks take away from the conversational aspect of weblogs. I'm just too used to them working, that's all :-).

Manual trackback. I just can't figure out how to send trackbacks to kaywa blogs.

@Steph, couldn't agree more. swissblogs.com has a lot of French-language blogs, perhaps if we could use them in blogug.ch and blog.ch we'd get a more accurate result next year? And of course that still doesn't mean we have every single CH-Blog. It's just the best data we have, which is better than none at all IMHO :-).



@Patrice, does planet.blogug.ch now aggregate ALL blogs on the list, or still only those that ping it? Or should I start aggregating everything and just not publish everything on the frontpage? I'm OK with aggregating right-wing blogs like the Freiheitspartei, but I sure won't show their hate-mongering on my frontpage. Just as an example :-). And then there are some blogs that I am forbidden to aggregate; I guess I'd have to pass on those, too.

Cool stuff! Once I start comparing and importing the blogug list, I'll have to add a 'src' column to my db table to keep track of where the blogs are coming from.

Couldn't agree more. A category groups things together that are in the same, er, category. But a tag does not; it just describes one aspect of one thing.

I use Technorati and PubSub and the blog.ch search feed to keep track of all the <strike>badmouthing and backstabbing</strike> err constructive criticism about me and blog.ch :-)

You know, you're lucky! People call me an evil Blog Cop and/or Monopolist (among other things), and I don't even get your media attention to make up for it :-).

Yepp, I noticed the missing trailing slashes... fixing that on my end will solve a problem or two. Of course if someone submits domain/path/index.html at your site, but domain/path/ at my site, that could result in conflicts too. Since most new blogs are coming from blog.ch anyway, it might not be such a big deal though.

The Slashdot crowd only finds this study three months after it was published? Amazing.
