Not only will you feel much better if you quit drinking soda, you will start to lose weight if you were a heavy drinker. I work in a restaurant so we tended to drink soda all day long, on a hot day you could easily put back 10 32 ounce cups in one shift. Thats like thousands of calories in sugar alone! When I quit drinking pop I lost about 30 pounds in three months with little other diet change. That was the catalyst that got me started taking my food/drink intake seriously, I wrote my own nutrient analysis software and really started watching what I ate, down about 100 lbs over a year or so, went from 300lbs to 205, and now I can run 10 miles no sweat, when I first started i could barely walk half a mile. And I really owe it all to quitting drinking the soda.
