Great post John!
While this breath-taking video is of humpback and not right whales, your readers may still enjoy it.

John;
One of my high school shipmates recently gave my 4 year old son Luke and I a tour of the new NOAA fisheries ship Henry B. Bigelow. We took some pictures which are posted on the Sea-Fever blog with a cool video of the ship's launch. http://sea-fever.org/2007/10/26/the-quietest-sh...

Wow, what an incredibly powerful but sad video of the S/S Norway! Some real highs and lows. If the documentary is anything like this, it will be a must see. Thanks for sharing this.

in hawaii superferry - a ship captain’s perspective on gCaptain
I am certainly not an expert in this area and find little to argue with in your well thought out post.
But it does strike me that Hawaiian Superferry's management might have missed the proverbial boat in not anticipating and planning for this outcome and making sure their significant investments and employees were protected.

It was very interesting to see this story because it had a connection to my past. Throughout my high school years I participated in a sail training program on board a square topsail schooner Tabor Boy. In the summer of 1977, we transported a replica of the Turtle submarine on our deck from Boston to Essex, CT. Here is a link to some drawings that one of my shipmates recently found that were done during the voyage.
