in Glaring differences between Denver and St. Paul on The New Mexico Independent
Wow, people. For pointing out the fact that non-white GOP delegates are way down from 2004 and tossing in my personal observations of what I saw in two cities with my own eyeballs, I'm a bigot, a liar, small-minded and a victim of politicians who have brainwashed me into thinking race is important because it will get them elected. Oh yes, and some kind of "minority" who is looking for some kind of handout. I really like that last one - if you knew me, you would know how ridiculous that is. Yep, I'm a real welfare queen.
I am happy that you want "minorities" like me to succeed - me and all my pink and green and purple friends - but I'll pass on basking in your approval. Do you even understand how condescending that is? And do you get that people have the right to express their opinions and relate views formed by actual experiences from their own (not so small) lives...and that those opinions and experiences are not "lies"? Can you possibly have a discussion about differences of viewpoint without resorting to epithets like "bigot" and "small-minded?"
I wish I could be happy that you are proving the darker parts of my original point, but it just makes me sad. And BTW, I'm done commenting on this thread. I'll be standing in the welfare line with my pink, green and purple friends (just keep those classics coming). See you next week.

A bigot, eh? Now that's not very nice, "proudrepublican." No, I'm just a regular American who loves my country and gets a bit nervous when I see so-called "leadership" that doesn't reflect or represent me. You prove my point, "proudrepublican"...so much better than I ever dared to say in my commentary. Thanks, though it does make me sad to see such polarization. And even though I am Black, I am so glad I am me and not angry old you. Gotta go...I'm off to the Xcel Center in a few minutes, where I will see with my own eyes who is at the convention...not the select Republican "minorities" the networks chose to spotlight last night on TV. And don't call me a bigot again, k?

Very moving, Barb. I was there when you made the decision and I know how hard it was for you. But I also know how committed you are to what you are doing now and how wonderful a teacher you will be!
