I am a huge LOTR fan as well and I also like the chai latte, but unfortunately my tummy isn't so keen on it hehe. I don't know who Dwight Howard is so I am following the link you provided to get myself up to speed.

Re: getting uncomfortable

wow Dan - it is an amazing and humbling thing to feel that burden - or should I say assignment - to help others. Obviously God had something very personal for you in that conference. I feel it too at times and then at others I conveniently sweep it under the rug - darn flesh. This post again reminds me that there is so much more I (and all of us) should be doing. thanks. m

Re: getting uncomfortable

Very cool - sounds very much like what Pastor/Author Dutch Sheets does in terms of praying for the nation and the government etc - a very interesting assignment, indeed. Let me know how the prayer walks go!

Re: the truth about evolution: what separates us from the animals

great post, Dan. I am currently taking a class on Creationism and it is fascinating. I just completed "Case for a Creator" by Lee Strobel. Interesting stuff indeed. I was brought up on evolution and even read Origin of Species as a teen but it never quite fit for me. You raise some great questions about morality.

Re: the monkey and the fish

Serving the least of these...I was in a position when I worked with the government many years ago where I was serving this very population in our city. I am embarassed to say that I began to resent it after a few years. I lost my heart for it and became a bit hardened to 'the least of these'. I was quite a new Christian and didn't really have that heart of compassion for people - not God's heart. Any compassion I had was of my own flesh and that is why it disappeared. This is the main reason I left the field.

I don't have a question, really. I just want to say that I cannot wait to read this book after watching the video clip and reading what the author had to say here on the blog. I believe, that even though I messed it up 9+ years ago when God presented me with the opportunity to serve, that He will use that past experience I had to continue to stir me up to serve today. But this time, I understand God's compassion and it is through HIM that I will serve, not by my own steam.
