Perhaps the party people who read your blog might like to know Boag, Sowry and Thompson are running Gardiner's campaign. All these people helped Bill English who took National to its greatest defeat ever.
That should scare off a few delegates giving him a vote to the Board.
Watch for a huge rise in Maori electorate participation at the conference, and the formation of a surprising rise in Young Nat branches that didn't exist before.
Delegates will be people resurrected for a one off conference, never to be seen again until the next Boag-led campaign.
Boag is very good at winning campaigns, and then the bad news begins.

Zutroy Delegates don't vote for the party president any more. They vote for board members, and the board elects their president.

At best Gardiner would probaby be a new board member, but an unlikely choice for party president given his lack of board experience.

Seriously, Bill Hirt is one of the most poorly-informed letter writers out there. It's one thing to offer critical commentary. It's another to rely on a constant string of distortions to make those arguments.

Ha ha, if you really believe the "Santelli" Tea Party Movement is already dying out, hide and watch tomorrow and Saturday! People have just learned other places to connect and organize.

Just because SOME underserving folks will benefit from the President’s program does not mean that others that are deserving should not get help. \

What Would Jesus Do?

I'll answer your question first: Jesus would tell you to go find a job, any job, and take care of yourself and your family.

Now, tell me please: what makes you "deserving" more than me and my family? Why do you "deserve" to have ME pay your mortgage? Charity is something that comes from the heart, not the US Government. It means *I* decide what to do do with *my* money just as *you* made the same decisions. You indeed might need assistance and there are many loving, charitable Americans who freely give. Look at the outpouring to the troops and disaster victims! There are no more charitable people in the world than those in the USA.

We are complaining about the US Government (something invented by the people, for the people and of the people) has decided to dictate to the people where their money will go. It's straight out robbery!

<blockquote cite="On the other hand, whoever can say, “yeah, I organized reteaparty.com” probably has a contract with a Washington PAC or lobby firm in his or her future."

Yeah, or perhaps become President of the USA since it sounds an awful lot like "community organizer".

People need to keep up the "tea party" protests until the news media and our "representatives" can no longer ignore us.

in Talking Politics on rise up Rochester
I think one of the biggest shortcomings of an older generation is that, once they get what they want (ie Bush), they will not ever concede a poor choice was made. Now, I don't know how our generation will stack up against this, perhaps we will be the same way but about a different topic.

Elders love to rile up the young 'uns. I do believe that there was some posturing going on at that picnic. I also believe that some of them mean what they say - they lost their own idealism and change-agency and are banking that your generation will lose yours too. If you prove them wrong, they will be proud though.

You won't change anyone's mind, usually. But, to walk away having held your own and enjoying the debate is also a good outcome.

How do you fix one aspect of a failing system without adversely affecting another aspect which, by the way, also needs to be fixed? To me, that is an important unasked question.

Michael J The following is an automated response:

I apreciate you taking the time to contact me. A quick a heads up if you've not already heard- I am riding my bike across the states and will not have computer service.

The ride is roughly 2500 miles and should take me about 1 month to finish.

You can go to my blog to find out more information

Ooo, drilling in ANWAR, that'll really help us out. From Wikipedia: "There have been conflicting reports as to the amount of oil in ANWR. A 1998 USGS study indicated at least 5.7 billion (95% probability) and possibly as much as 16.0 billion (5% probability) barrels (0.9 to 2.5 km³) exists in ANWR, with a mean value of 10.4 billion barrels (1.7 km³). Technically recoverable oil within the ANWR 1002 area (excluding State and Native areas) is estimated to be at least 4.3 billion (95%) and as much as 11.8 billion (5%) barrels (0.7 to 1.9 km³), with a mean value of 7.7 billion barrels (1.2 km³). [26] The U.S. consumes about 20 million barrels daily. Using the lower estimate of 4.3 billion estimate, the math computes to the reserves only lasting 215 days if all the oil was used only in the U.S. Using the higher estimate of 11.8 billion barrels, the oil will last for 590 days. [27] This relatively short grace period of accessible oil is part of the controversy over endangering the wildlife and environment."

The people who made the documentary don't hate the suburban way of life any more than terrorists hate freedom. They just consider it an unsustainable -- and irresponsible -- way of living.
