Yes, because of the long gestational period women have, and because men are physically stronger, men do end up going out to put food on the table with women at home with kids. But childhood is a relatively new concept, and as children get older it's obvious they need guidance wherever it comes from, and not necessarily a soft bosom to cry on. Moreover, workers do not need physical strength to earn money today. So if a woman in a family is capable of making more money, and the man is capable of raising the child (which can't be genetic since until very recently children were adults at puberty and worked from about school-age) what's the problem? Being a stay at home dad is very manly because it means ignoring the chest-thumping nonsense from other men in order to make a better life for your children. And what's more manly than passing on that genetic material?

Re: Is it Manly to Swear?

I would say swearing is manly as long as it is articulate -- that is, swearing just to be vulgar, or without realizing the impact of your words on listeners, is unmanly and stupid. But swearing either in a way that startles listeners when you are angry and mean to, or that is in appropriate context (around others who think nothing of swearing) is certainly manly, since being scared of words is for wimps.

Re: Is Cooking Manly?

Using knives and fire to satiate hunger? Cooking is a culmination of manliness. Of course, much has been done culturally to femenize it -- fluting a cakes icing so that it looks like a happy teddy bear, for instance, is unmanly. But in essence, cooking is science, one of the original uses of tools, and basic to providing to oneself; and all those things are manly.

Re: OhGizmo Holiday Giveaway - $1,200 $1,400 $1,500 Worth Of Stuff And Counting [Updated]

<a href="http://thejoeyconspiracy.blogspot.com/" rel="nofollow">http://thejoeyconspiracy.blogspot.com/</a> I need the prizes.
