I believe the search is a tool that naturally apearedto help us navigate the gigantic amount information we happened to deal with. Just like with large territories, when you need a jet to get you faster to a distant corner. You can walk the distance of thousand miles on foot, but usually don't have that much time. Same is true of the search: you could browse numerous directories looking for the information, but using a search would be faster.

We should also mind the relevance of the search to a query, or in a wider sense, quality of search. I think that's where social networks win search engines.

Can't make out what is so pecial about video chatting? Well, it's a cool feature indeed to play with at first. But using it regularly is like killing the battery with your own hands.

TranceMist made a good point. Half of the spam I receive comes from Hotmail.

I also agree with neverness. There's no way a service/program should do something I didn't ask it to do. First, they upload pictures, then they may start to upload my e-mails (even by mistake).

Finding new way of involving users is ok (as far as it can be ok), but there must be some limits.

It really depends on how you use it. So for me it is both ultimate time waster AND great tool.

I'm not sure if a tag cloud is a good indicator of what's important on a blog. The cloud shows what's tags are more or less prominent on the blog, that's all. Well, it also show blog's general profile, that is what the blog is about.
