So you choose how long the cord is. You can even hardwire it into the wall. Or run conduit to it. Or use the included 6' cable, cut the cable to whatever length you want, and use that.

At this point, a 12" model isn't in the works.

Re: RedPost/Kit’s birth announcement

It's 1280x1024

Re: The weird world of Web 2.0

yeah, it's really not a photo frame -- it's so much more than that, an entire platform that essentially bridges the gap between your computer and the wall where you want your content.

at this point though, i just don't know how else to describe it simply and elegantly. people understand what a digital photo frame is, so for now, that's what it is.

we're also working on super sweet web 2.0 software that will be the bridge between your content feeds (RSS, web pages) and your RedPost. but until we finish the super sweet software that makes everything super easy (and fun!), it's a digital photo frame.

Re: Windows vs. Linux, the age old (as in under 20 yrs old) argument

I didn't feel like writing another post, so I'm commenting on my own post. Whether or not that's allowed, I just read an article on Red Herring dealing with Microsoft's recent treatment of Linux vendors, and how the Linux people aren't really threatened by Microsoft's threats. It's an interesting article:

As for the threat of Microsoft lawsuits, Mr. Zemlin said: “It is very unlikely that Microsoft would sue its customers. It doesn’t make sense to sue your own customers.”

Not that Linux actually exists:

other Microsoft officials, particularly Bill Hilf - platform strategy director, cries that Linux is dead and there is no open source movement but more of a mythology of open source spread all over. "Linux doesn't exist any more in 2007. There is no free software movement. If someone says Linux is about Love, Peace and Harmony, I would tell them to do their research. There is no free software movement any more. There is big commercial [firms] like IBM and there is small commercial [firms] like Ubuntu" he said.

Re: RedPost/Kit’s birth announcement

I'm really not trying to rip people off. I would/will use the service myself, but only if it reaches indoors in restaurants/coffee shops (the current coverage area, as ambiguously defined by the article, wouldn't reach the Grind or any restaurants). I just don't believe that people sit outside to use their laptops -- sunlight alone is a major issue. And most students aren't in session over the summer. I think that using the $25,000 as an incentive for businesses to stay open past 5 or to plan a First Fridays like event would have a much longer, greater impact on Downtown.

Re: RedPost featured in The Harvest Gazette

I didn't put a link on this post. They already know what they're doing and are much more likely to succeed than someone who's brand new.

Re: RedPost World HQ 2.1: Photos

Yep, it's the same building as this:
http://theredpost.com/blog/2007/06/22/redpost-w...

Re: TV show wants to feature RedPost!

Yeah, but what did it cost? Taxpayers pay nothing, the company provides the service for free (I forget the name of the company right, they're local).

And if you live in the county seat of Goshen, where I do, you can even pay $5 a month to have otherwise unemployed men and women on bicycles come pick up your recycling bins every other week. Otherwise you have to take your own recycling to the drop-off point.

Provides employment, promotes bicycling and zero-carbon recycling transportation (to the bins at least) and costs the taxpayer nothing.
