in Introductions: One Total Jerk on RedPost/Blog
Clarification: the user model was in my head, but Danny sketched it out. We've never had a user model before. It's nice to have one now. Thanks Danny! (you total jerk)

Thanks Anthony.
1) I fixed the comment form. Geez, I hate CSS.
2) It is awesome! I've grown to like it more and more. I was worried it would suck. But it doesn't!

Yeah, but what did it cost? Did you get a return on your investment?

in Downtown Goshen needs more restaurants on RedPost/Blog
It's actually a great strategy to try to convince current, successful restaurant owners to open a second one. They already know what they're doing and are much more likely to succeed than someone who's brand new.

Another interesting article on the importance of restaurants to spurring growth (thanks Danny)

in I want one on RedPost/Blog
If the iPhone wasn't in line in front of it, I'd buy one...simple, no network access fees (although you pay over the life of the thing), works in full sun. Although, I'm skeptical of the OS and interface...Amazon's "design" tends to be "throw a lot of stuff on a long page that scrolls on forever"

We don't have space for a ton of stuff, so it's mainly for individuals. If you do have a lot, we can definitely share with you where we're taking stuff and they can pick up directly from you...

Thanks for the advice Bill--I edited the post to avoid SEC wrangling, because although I'm sure they're very nice people, I'm not interested in making their acquaintance at this point.

just a note -- my care now doesn't sway from side to side nearly as much as it used to. i can drive more like a race car driver and not feel thrown about. sweet.

Phil--I would add that not only should you think about being across the room, but being distracted and having 2 seconds to get your attention.

in RedPost/Kit Contest: And the winner is… on RedPost/Blog
I've already got some flack for who the winner was, so I wanted to issue a disclaimer. DISCLAIMER: I had nothing to do with who John choose as a winner. I know Anthony as well as some of the other entrants, but did not influence the winner-decision-making-process in any way. John called me at one point and asked if he should consider exposure of the winning sculpture, as in, where it will sit and how many people will see it, as a factor in his decision. I said no, not at all.

in Correct me if I’m wrong but Free Public Wifi by a river seems like a waste of money on RedPost/Blog
I agree that it's a great idea, and that keeping students Downtown is needed for successful revitalization. I would/will use the service myself, but only if it reaches indoors in restaurants/coffee shops (the current coverage area, as ambiguously defined by the article, wouldn't reach the Grind or any restaurants). I just don't believe that people sit outside to use their laptops -- sunlight alone is a major issue. And most students aren't in session over the summer. I think that using the $25,000 as an incentive for businesses to stay open past 5 or to plan a First Fridays like event would have a much longer, greater impact on Downtown.
