in Could Andrei Arshavin Be Arsenal’s Defensive Midfielder? on EPL Talk
Norm, I think you're a little harsh on him. The man did score 30 goals last season.
I think selling Adebayor should depend on how much the bid is for him and who they could get to replace him. If it's a part exchange for Eto'o. I see it. If it's selling him for 18m and replacing him with Roque Santa Cruz, I think it's absurd.

Just flog him for any price... should have scored way more last season, ashavin in the hole and RvP up front. When vela come on we did play with penertration we were wose becose we have center ford that cant score gilt edge chances if his brain has to think like a true striker 9/10 times... hes too slow in the head.... waste of time playing the ball to his feet he his touch is bad or his head because he not that great there.

I think Gallas is fine as a defender, don't want him anywhere near the armband.
Toure has been treated unfairly. He's just now getting back into shape. He deserves a chance. I mean the guy had freaking malaria last summer.

The brilliance of this post is that it captures the people who only skim the first two paragraphs.

I believe in your rage that you meant "libelous."
A. It was a joke. Chill out.
B. Manchester City is owned by the Abu Dhabi royal family. The UAE does not allow Israeli nationals to enter the country.

And I'm the one who is being xenophobic for pointing that out? Don't expect any Ibrahimovic bids anytime soon.

Yes, Patrick, you are correct. I obviously don't watch any football. My not knowing/caring how an Everton defender got his scar is prime evidence of that.
I write for this website solely to annoy people such as you with my dearth of knowledge and intellect.

My first comment was more of disgust. Like making fun of someone's handicap. So you fire back full barrell that you didn't know and that its a joke.
but if you are going to be a journo, and you make such a joke in a paid position. you will get fired for it.
that's reality.
so if you wanna act snarky and cool about it, fine.
your loss. could have just said admited your bad and moved on.
no one is perfect but seriously Lescott is an England international. Everyone knows about his scar. Like tevez'.

Yes, because wikipedia is a treasure trove of factual information. I go there as well for my Djimi Traore statistics and my latest updates about the Masal Bugduv transfer saga.

Thank you for your constructive feedback, Patrick.
I was unaware of Lescott's injury. I will perform an exhaustive inquest into the childhood of every one I write about for this site before ever hazarding a joke again.

I agree. I considered placing him in this post, but I felt his story was more complex given the injuries.

Chelsea have no depth at striker. They have marginal depth in midfield without Essien. Even under the Mourinho hey days, they didn't have a deep squad. It's the reason they played a full strength side in the Carling Cup.

I think the referee and the linesman were too busy making up rules about how you have to alert the linesman on a quick free kick to notice this.

in Man United 2-2 Aalborg: Tevez Has A Lot To Learn on EPL Talk
I agree about his form, but disagree about the cause. I think if he was playing regularly he would be sharper. He's a fantastic player. What I wouldn't give to have him at Arsenal.

in Why Americans Don’t Get Soccer on EPL Talk
I don't think there is a natural aversion to foot usage. I think it's more that when the two versions of football came over here, we preferred the one where violently pummeling each other is encouraged. I think that is a more telling about the American psyche.

in Manchester City 3-0 Arsenal: Pathetic Gunners Crash Again on EPL Talk
I don't think Gallas had anything to do with it. The squad was woefully shorthanded. Fabregas, Toure, Adebayor, Walcott and Sagna were all out of an already thin squad. It wasn't an "untimely" decision to Start Gavin Hoyte. He had no choice.

in Time To Stop Underestimating Hull City on EPL Talk
I have to agree with Phil. I think there is a valid point that there's not enough analysis of newly promoted squads in pre-season predictions. However, even with that greater understanding, I don't know that it was a fait accompli that Hull were going to do what they did. I don't think anyone has underestimated them since the Arsenal win.

in What if the Premier League was American? on EPL Talk
I think the Boston-Liverpool comparison is a bit of a stretch. I understand the port comparison. But, the prominent stereotype for a Bostonian is a wealthy, elitist, snob. That diverges a bit from the Scouser stereotype.

Wow,which boston is that? I assure you when americans think of boston residents, they think of idiots with obnoxiously sport-centric civic pride. that and racism.
you must only be thinking of harvard and MIT or you may identify with Good Will Hunting and his plight with "wealthy, elitist, snobs."

O'Neill is an interesting one, but unless he gets Villa into the Champions League, I don't see it happening.
I thought about including Queiroz in that list, but, given his track record as a manager, I don't know how you could responsibly entrust your club to him.

in Tottenham Fans: Stop Making Damien Comolli The Scapegoat on EPL Talk
I have to agree with the substance, thought not the tone of the earlier posts. I think the big name signings haven't been prudent and mask inherent weaknesses in the squad. These problems existed well before Ramos got there. He hasn't helped matters, but he can't exactly be blamed.

in How Should Fox Soccer Channel Commentate International Matches? on EPL Talk
I thought the announcing was atrocious. Even the most gung-ho American commentator would never use "we" to refer to a team competing.
