They have to be cared for, nurtured, developed for a long term to have long term profitability.Unless the employees can find a work life belance for themselves, how can they find it for company, both are essentially complementry.

Re: Employee interaction and rise

No doubt, its an excellent article.Honestly speaking, most of the employees will do well provided level of motivation is high, that is where role of organisatin and leadership comes into play. Mentoring is also very important in todays competitive environment.

Re: Vroom’s theory and Incentive plans

An excellent article. It is complementry to Maslows theory.Honestly entire theory depends on performence appraisal system existing in the org and valence of the award. If any of these is not satisfactory for the employee, level of motivatin will be poor in the org.

Re: Humor at Work

Its a good article, it should be understood that humour in routine functioning wil not only incrase the output but will also reduce the attrition rate.It is specially true of service sector. Monotonous service will keep the customers away. South West Airlines of USA IS ONE SUCH EXAMPLE where jovial employees keep the passengers happy and turn them into frequent flyers.

Re: Maintaining decorum at work

An excellent article, however some more pts can be added.Org culture has to play an important rolein maint decorum at work.It takes time to evolve. Though every employee contributes ,top echelon plays the most important role, if they are impartial, objective in their approach towards HR procedures, play by rule book, there will be minimum scope for manipulation and office politics, result will be maint of harmony and decorum. In such an environment, only competent people will go up. Achievement of targets will be easy. It is easier said than done, however its not impossible to achieve.

Re: Bosses and favoritism at work

Bosses and fevoritism at work is there to stay at workplaces,if somebody wants to move up the corporate ladder he has to find a way to move around it and achieve the desired targets.Old boys club and personal friendships do help in short run . Relationship management is an art which has to be mastered and if required, sufficient time has to be allotted to this exercise on daily basis.Honestly speaking, if you can manage your Boss and your workplace half the battle is won.It can be a legitim ate effort which is bound to pay handsome devidents in long run.

Re: Saving on Recruiting costs

A company should not forget its previous employees, since you know all details about them, they can always be considered for alternate positions. There are many ifs and buts in exercising this option but it should always be explored whenever possible without any ego hassle.

Re: Turning Individuals into team Player

Its a nice article. It does not mention anything about Indian culture and its influence on group dynamics in our corporate set up but the fact is that even we find it extremely difficult to work in team unless trained in a structured format where everybody is given a defined role. Even Sam Pitroda has accepted this fact that in our team settings everybody wants to be a leader only, nobody wants to be a useful member or follower or influencer . Moreover, switching of roles from leader to follower is also very difficult in our context, all these factors influence the perforance of our teams. As a HR professional, the challenge lies in devising a appraisal system in which indeviduals contribution in his own capacity and as a team member is suitably recognised. This will increase our team output.

Re: The Systems Approach

This is really good article , explaining in a summarised form what exactly is systems theory and how it can be useful for the functioning of the organisation. Larger the organisation, greater is the requirement of all the subsystems in alignment and creating synergy , fact remains that unless the managers understand the requirement of understanding the implications of their actions on efficiency and profitability of other subsystems , sum will not be greater than whole and bottomline of the company will not improve.
Col Virendra

Re: Capital budgeting process

Its a good article which gives a general view on capital investment decisons, however care has to be taken that all future investment decisons are based on future returns which are dependent upon market conditions which are not predictable in the present scenerio. However, what the finance manager can really do is to mitigate the risk as much as possible .
Thanks and regards,
Col Virendra

Re: Letter of Credit and Financing of Foreign Trade

An excellent article, anybody who wants to be expert of International business, it is a must read.
Col Virendra

Re: Right attitudes and behavior can make you a Star Performer at your work place

An excellent article, very motivating with practical tips to follow and succeed in your work environment, must read for all those who wants to be popular and successful at their workplace.
col virendra

Re: Economy recession - Indian scenario

well, a good article, just to add on, our economic situation and that of USA are and will continue to remain different in the long run. Our economy is still driven by domestic demand and as an indeviduals we still dont have the tendency to overspend. Certain sectors which are dependent upon USA for export are required to diversify to sustain their growth rate. Overall , we should not worry about recession but think of the measures to have a healthy growth rate.
Virendra Kumar

Re: Impression Management Techniques

Most of the points which have been made are correct . Just to add on, most of people, who are articulate, persuasive and refined ,will not make politically incorrect move,,produce results, those people are and will be perceived in different class. Problem is with the people who are not in the same class but project differently and wants to getaway with their failures with the help of behavioural jugglery, these people have to be identified by management and dealt accordingly, they should be made accountable for their poor results.
Virendra
