More importantly, what kind of music does he like? How many Thin Lizzy records does he have? Does he still employ a turntable in his home? Smart, Schmart, can he hear the difference between a 128 kbs mp3 and an aac file? This jury is out until the REAL questions get asked.

I'll find out the answers. Julius might even show up and answer them himself!
Just yesterday Kid Mercury and I were lamenting that you haven't been around much lately to provide your unique Jacksonian take on these important issues and now you show up to prove us wrong!

OMG, tell it siser! Upon arrival back at JFK we got abused, seriously verbally abused by the customs jerkoffs. Why? The Germans were wonderful, and Lufthansa? Heaven in the air.

Man, this is killing me, 12 days in Europe just completed, and all I can think of is 'when can I go back?'.

in Taxis and public transportation on Gotham Gal
I've been thinking about those things too. In NYC and a few other US cities the people are blessed with decent public transit, but then I think of Atlanta, LA, Dallas, and a host of other American cities that fail that test. What's wrong with us? Europe has it sussed, like so many other aspects of society that we clearly lag behind them on.

Wicked psyched that we'll be seeing you all in Munich, bummed that you had to put off India.
You'll love Berlin, Europe's Gotham.
I've never been to Milan, I'm fear that I'm too sexy for Milan.

Bill Maher has a running gag on his show where each week they showcase a country you might want to move to should McCain win the election. I wonder what the emigration stats are over the past eight years.

I don't think we'll have to worry about that now. Obama is closing the deal
with the voters now. I can feel it.

Gary Shandling, appearing on the Bill Maher show last week, made an astute observation. He siad that Bill Clinton should have sold the country back in 99 while we could still get a good price for it.

Ages ago, seriously, a great while past, Fred detailed the future of how folks will enjoy music to me. I knew then that it would happen, and it seems he's going to be proven right......again.

I was at a friend's house in brooklyn last night (of course it was brooklyn,
the coolest city in the US) and we were pulling vinyl out
Zappa, funkadelic, early elvis costello
It was a blast
Nothing like vinyl, that's for sure

The BRIC countries certainly are 'drinking our milkshake', to borrow a term from John Stewart, and coupled with the lousy Dollar - a result of the US borrowing billions from those same countries to fund our nasty war habit has left us in a position where we're going to have to start changing our habits, much of which is long overdue.

in 100 Comments or Bust on A VC
Comments as a meter only serves as a measure of your post's commentability. Cerainly if you're after discourse, as I know you are, then the number of comments is a good gauge of success. Sometimes I read great posts that don't leave the reader with much to say besides "great post". I wish that everybody who reads my blog would comment, but so few do. As you know, at times I'll toss up a contentious post just to get some action.

in Top Records of 2008 (so far) on A VC
I will say that the Raconteurs have fooled me twice with songs from their new record that I heard on the radio (101.9). One I though was from the 70's (one of the other guy's tunes - not Jack White), and one I thought was early 80's (a Jack White number). In both cases I liked what I heard.
I think a top ten of 2008 would prove very difficult for me, and not because of too many choices, I think you know what I'm saying.....
