The very focused audience is great for ad sales. They'll save some decent cash on the back-end tech costs since Yahoo should easily be able to incorporate that into their network.

Re: At least it won’t be called Club Mouse

Looks like holding out a few months got the guys twice as much plus some jobs at Disney. Maybe thats what they wanted all along? I really doubt it was the charity aspect. I think it was the valuation.

Re: Yahoo buys sports network, Rivals.com

This is a great buy by Yahoo. They actually bought something that is making money and it will continue to deliver revenue. The big bonus will be the content and the very focused audience which is great for ad sales. The price is not even that crazy when you consider all the factors.

Re: Disney buys Club Penguin in $700 million deal — virtual worlds have arrived?

Congrads to my fellow Canucks. Not only is the price not crazy (bonus actuall revenue) but the audience is already being delivered. The content is great and very focused for ad sales. Smart move by Yahoo hopefully they don't mess it up in the longterm.

Re: 2007/06/29/ilaunched/

But Pete, did you line up all day just to hand someone $500?

Re: 2007/08/06/hypertext-solutions/

If they can figure out how to cut out all the crap search results they'll win the search race when they get bought out by Yahoo (likely buyer if their software actually works).

Re: 2007/09/24/iphone-warranty/

If you already didn't think those types of tricks would void your warranty you were living in some customer service dream world.

Re: 2007/10/12/ny-times-comments-homepage/

The times has figured out that people are going to other sites to connect and comment on stories. Its not some vapour revenue site. Rivals makes cash, delivers viewers and adds plenty of online cred to Yahoo's sports efforts. Very focused audience which is great for ad sales. Great move by Yahoo.

Re: Forbes In Process Of Buying Social Bookmarking Service Clipmarks?

Someone was mumbling about the web 2.0 bubble bursting?
