in Peek Over Corey’s Shoulder to his Trading Screens on Afraid to Trade Blog
Thanks Corey, this is actually really helpful to see. I also use TS so it is interesting to see how you've set up the system for your needs. I've been reading your site for a while but I've never commented until now. Thanks for doing what you do, I've learned a lot from you.

Best,

Lots of good, key points in your post.
Seems to me the way forward for PR/Marcom hinges on this one sentence: "With marcom and customer service attempting to embrace and participate in conversations, many experts are vocally contemplating whether or not conversations are scalable"

In my view, PR is best suited to deal with social media interactions. It works well for one-to-one relationships, or one-to-few, but it is terrible at handling one-to-many interactions. Digg-likes are a good, geeky way of concentrating comments and feedback through a funnel, but experience shows customers rapidly get frustrated to be 'bundled' together.

Twitter does seem to be a good way to entertain personal interactions, but talk about scalability...

What's left? Good ol' CRM it seems, badly in need of an upgrade though. Btw, can anyone recommend a few good blogs about crm? I may need to read up on this.

in Has MLS Regressed Since the League Began? on Major League Soccer Talk
Those early tournaments were in mid-season and MLS teams did not have to play a single true road game in them. Even if that weren't the case, the sample size is not large enough to proclaim that MLS has regressed.

in PR 2.0 = The Evolution of PR, Nothing Less, Nothing More on Brian Solis
Great post. I agree with your point that PR 2.0 is only about what PR has always been about. However, the same goes for web 2.0: participation, collaboration, UGC: c'mon, this is exactly what the web was always supposed to be.
I guess this is just 'back to the future'

in My Fifteen Most Useful Possessions | RogiLife.Com on RogiLife.Com

I like woks as well, but every time I buy one, it seems to fall apart within a few months. Perhaps I need to invest in one that is not made in China. I’ve seen some Japanese-made woks that are kind of pricey. (60-70 range).

What do you suggest?

Nice!

Lucky man you are… Portugal is such a nice place. I’ve never been to the Algarve area, but it sure looks tops. I’ve spent time in the Lisbon/Sintra areas on holiday, and might make a trip down south next time and hit some of those divine golf courses the Algarve is famous for.

Do you sell your photography as a self-employed person or do you work for a firm? You sound like you have an interesting gig going on.

in 80’s Music Wasn’t All Bad | RogiLife.Com on RogiLife.Com

The 80s were a good time. I prefer the music of the early 80s, though.

For rock, I thought the 80s were horrible. All that glam, hair, dudes dressed as ladies, etc.

That list leaned heavily towards Simple Minds and Tears for Fears. I like music from both bands, but I have always liked TfF earlier work much better, especially when they have Mel Collins on saxophone. I found out about Simple Minds by watching the movie Breakfast Club.

I remember the early 80s like it was yesterday.

Kajagoogoo, The Police, Toni Basil, Foreigner, Styx, Aldo Nova, Blue Oyster Cult, John Cougar Mellencamp, Rush, Triumph, the list goes on…

Solid Gold, Soul Train, The Tube, etc… all those shows devoted to the music of the moment.

in FOX ATTACKS! The Environment on FOX Attacks!
Here's how it goes. If Fox is lying and misleading the public, that makes Fox an ideal network to advertise on. Why? Because if you're a company selling cheap Chinese-made crap, like most American companies do these days, you need to spend some money on manipulating consumers.
Now if Fox is successful in manipulating their viewers to believe everything they are shown and told, it also applies to commercials.
I don't say that Fox is any better or worse than the rest of the US media. It's all bad.
We make great cartoons, a few decent movies, but when it comes to our news media, we have nothing to be proud of. Most Americans are kept comfortably numb, unaware of the real problems, not to mention having any clue of what's happening in the rest of the world. Our economy depends on uneducated consumers, just like our politicians depend on uneducated voters.
We are a bunch of fat and dumb sheep, scared of all the wrong things, and keep asking our good shepherd, the government to lock us up, to make us feel safe.
It's working.

Steve,

Why don't you tell us your idea of overpopulation. How many billions of people can the Earth supply with space and food and essential goods? 10 billion? 100? a trillion?
What kind of quality of life we're looking at? Are we going to live like rats or robots?
When your God allegedly told Noah: "multiply, and replenish the earth" it was after the Flood, with only a boatful of creatures. Maybe God would say something different today, but no one is listening.
I'd rather see a happy and free world than a crowded one.

Global warming may or may not caused by people. No one can prove it one way or another. If it's true, it's time to find a solution. The problem is simple: overpopulation. The solution is complicated: how to educate people about the benefits of birth control, how to deal with religious fanatics who want to eliminate it.
We have 7 billion people turning irreplaceable resources into garbage. How long can this be sustained? Instead of changing our lifestyle by eliminating all the fun, we should make fewer babies, gradually reducing the population to a reasonable level.
If we cannot do it, we're doomed.

I can't explain how hard it is to me to avoid harsh words when I write articles about the RIAA (:

BTW, I don't even need Internet radio, I downloaded the entire Internet back in the Napster days (:. But I definitely support this cause.

Heh. Well it's no secret that I'm not exactly in love with Apple. I'll never buy any of their products as long as the lock me in in software (I will never, ever, install iTunes).

But, I'd kinda like the iPhone to succeed; it's an ambitious product. The cold harsh reality of European customers, who are crazy about Nokia and don't really care about Apple, let alone phones without keyboards, probably won't result in it flying off the shelves.

It's good that they added the extra battery time; I assure you that NO ONE here in Croatia would buy any cell phone that doesn't last one day of normal usage.

Well, no one is gonna buy it anyway (: because it doesn't have a keyboard. It's that simple.

Hey, Stan from Mashable here. The MyBlogLog thing is a coincidence, I didn't see your post before, and I've actually broken the Technorati authority thing news before anyone over at FranticIndustries. And you have rightfully linked to that article, for which I thank you.

Anyway, I can only promise that I'll link to you whenever I pick something up from you (:

in What are some good places to visit for a honeymoon in Seattle? on Weddings and Travel
To me, the most romantic place in Washington State is the San Juan Islands. The ferry ride is spectacular and the islands are secluded, have lots of wild life and interesting shops. The ferry for two plus a car will be $50, but it's worth it.

There's a scenic drive I like to go on and July is a great time to take it. From Seattle take 520 to I405 and go north to Woodinville. From Woodinville take 522 east towards Monroe. On the way, you’ll pass through the small, but old little town called Maltby - home of the best breakfast in Washington State (Maltby Cafe - see attached link). When you get to Monroe, take Highway 2 east over Steven's Pass. After Skykomish, but before Steven's Pass is a nice little hiking trail, Deception Falls, (1 mile, maybe a little more) that has some great views of a mountain stream. It's a nice place to stretch your legs and breathe some mountain air. About 1/2 an hour later 30 miles, is Lake Wenatchee on highway 207. It's a good place to go camping, but I like to go past the lake and take the scenic route on Beaver Valley Rd (highway 209) through the town of Plain. This route will eventually take you back to highway 2 at Leavenworth. Leavenworth is a Bavarian themed mountain town with bratwurst, beer, onion domes, lederhosen and German shops. July is too early for this area's specialty, apples, but there will be a great supply of fresh cherries and other fruit at roadside stands starting at Leavenworth. After Leavenworth, continue another 25 miles to Wenatchee and take 97 north along the portion of the Columbia River called Lake Entiat. 45 miles north of Wenatchee is Lake Chelan. Lake Chelan is great resort area to camp, fish, go water skiing, etc. It's a very long lake with the opposite end of the lake inaccessible except by boat (there is a ferry available). 20 miles north of Chelan, and the start of my favorite part of the drive is highway 153 along the Methow River. 35 miles later you'll be on the North Cascades Pass, highway 20 and 10 miles after that will be the Western themed town of Winthrop. After Winthrop there is 132 miles of spectacular mountain scenery and lakes to I5 at Burlington. If you continue west on highway 20 you will go to Anacortes (where the San Juan ferry is) and Deception Pass which a bridge from the mainland to Whidbey Island. There is a nice campground at Deception Pass as well. Continuing south on 20 you can visit the interesting island communities of Coupeville and Freeland. The highway ends at Clinton where a short ferry ride ($11) will take you to Mukilteo and the mainland.

Obviously, you can't do all of this in one day. If you want to see some of Washington State this trip has many of the highlights - you can easily pare it down to what you fit into the time allowed. If you are going to stay somewhere Leavenworth and Chelan are the nicest places to stay along the way.
