in Understanding Publishing in the Digital Age on Fiction Matters
Good start. I agree, the long-tail is where many small publishers are aiming with their titles, or even those savvy self-publishers. However, what the new publishing era has allowed is for small time authors or even nobodies to market their books with almost the same effectiveness as big time publishers.

What a list! Looks like Twitter is a big component of your social media marketing. I'm a fan of Alerts and RSS readers, but I've yet to really master tweeting to be effective... looks like I've got some work to do.

James M. Helms Thanks for your visit and comment. It's good to know about resources like Yvonne has made available. Some things can only be learned by through experience. It's easier to learn and grow when you leverage the experience of others.

Wow, this looks good. I would really love to get a copy of this book, especially since it goes over how to write good copy - something that has always eluded me as I tend to write more fiction and have trouble getting my head around the marketing part.

in book review: Palfrey & Gasser’s “Born Digital” on The Technology Liberation Front
One of the biggest complaints I've heard about the next generation - the digital one - is that they do not know how to value information and its sources. That is, they take anything on face value until proven otherwise and they do not examine closely just where they are getting their info. I'll have to pick up a copy of this book, it looks very interesting.

in Wyndham launches new Sustainability Program with ‘WyndhamGreen’ on TerraCurve.com
This is great news, and I hope more hotel and resort chains follow. With all the traveling I have to do for business, it is hard to be green often. But if the hotels help - not changing the towels every day, recycling, using eco-friendly products I will definitely stay with them over a hotel that does not. I want to do my part and this helps.

Yes, all of the so-called "free trade" agreements have seriously impacted indigenous peoples in each respective country. These agreements are only good for the corporations they were written to benefit. The local and indigenous peoples are not considered when such agreements are signed and touted as benefiting all parties.

Thanks for sharing. I think #16 is very interesting in terms of understanding how sustainability and green are such powerful marketing words these days - they are making the difference in peoples purchasing and money spending. I think this trend will continue for quite some time as well.

in Vying for Native American Votes on News21blog2008
I'm with you, the Native American vote is being courted rather heavily this election season. In South Dakota their vote is also being heavily sought after as it might help swing that state as well. I just hope we don't end up after the election with a bunch of empty promises again - regardless of who wins.

Wow, I'd have to agree with you on the cover - not very up to date in terms of the international market or being culturally savvy. But, if the info inside is good then I guess that can be overcome. Thanks for sharing, I'm always looking for new ways to help market my books online.

Cindy Paulsimister - Thank you for your comment. I am a fan of Guerilla Marketers.

Book Marketing Newbie - Hey, I visited your website. I love your selection of book reviews. Lots of cultural topics.

With regards to the book cover. You know, I would think they knew what they were doing when these Guerilla Marketers designed the cover. Maybe they focused on a small target who actually do appreciate this type of book cover.

What's interesting is there is a certain personality that comes across with this type of photo. The perceptions I get from the cover do not match the content. though.

I guess we have all seen the opposite: great covers with mediocre content .

What a great way to combine a thriller with a timely topic. I don't know about the cover - once I buy the book I don't really care but it does make a difference for people on the fence. However, anything to help people realize how screwed up the world is sounds like a book that I should at least give a try to. Thanks.

Good point, with gas prices going up distributing books is becoming even more expensive, whereas with games you can almost download them now with the high speed access most homes have now. In turn, publishers are leaving the marketing up to the authors - unless of course you are that 1% that they actually decide to put all their eggs into. It is tough right now for sure.

in Blog Marketing: a very interesting book about corporate blogs very useful for eCommerce Marketing strategy. on Buzzes about e-commerce, internet marketing, social shopping
Thanks for the review, it seems like having a blog is essential these days in helping to build your corporate identity. I guess you need to also make sure the blog has its own identity to distinguish it and get a loyal following.

buzzes's picture
buzzes Thank you for your analysis.

I agree with you: a blog must have its own Identity which has to be the same as the corporate identity. Markets are conversation and customers and prospects are more and more your company accounts in a buzz marketing.

I also think that each corporate Identity (of companies that uses corporate blogs, of course) reflects its blog identity. In the eighties and the nineties, marketers used the term "corporate image" which implied that the identity of each corporate was reflected and was like "a good (or worst) mark" a result of best (or worst) practises. That was because last century was characterized by a Mass Media, Broadcasting and indirect communication model. David Bernstein's book "Company Image" is a clear example of this analysis

Nowadays, Blogs makes form of direct communication between customers, people and Company Image is no more ... Image , but an Identity process. That's the reason why I think that Blog Identity is the center of Company Identity and I am a supporter of Corporate Blogs applied to ECommerce sites.

But to realize this it is compulsory that marketers know how to deal with blogs.

What do you think about?
