It is a large network of over 100 completely free individual community sites, where members join once and then choose the sites that match their 'passions' in life. This approach allows people to surround themselves in each site, with groups of people they share something in common, with each site being very focused around a specific theme. The list of sites within the network is available here: http://www.passionsnetwork.com/c_resources.html There is one login, with the personalized menu of sites maintained within a single account for ease. Needless to say, as the market moves to a more community-centric focus, we see potential for significant growth.

Re: Niche Social Networks As A Viable Business Model

I started Passions Network about 3 years ago, and it is comprised of over 100+ individual niche social networking sites. The sites in the network work individually, AS WELL AS part of the network.

Basically, people join once and then add the communities into their single account. There are sites for people who are into Sci Fi, trucking, yoga, music, movies, politics and a hundred other things. Examples include TrekPassions.com, NerdPassions.com, ShyPassions.com, ChristianPassions.com, etc.

Since the member chooses the sites that match their 'passions' in life, they decide just how many places they want to appear. Everything is managed in one place, and there are ways for them to promote their other social networking affiliations as well. Members can add links to their LiveJournal, MySpace and Facebook profiles (as well as a hundred others).

Niche networking can be easier than joining a lot of individual sites with individual logins, and Passions Network is proof of it.

Re: The next generation of social networks will have a purpose

I agree, although I'm biased for obvious reasons. Check out Passions Network (http://www.passionsnetwork.com). It is a network of over 100+ individual social network/online dating sites, each focused on a specific area of interest or similarity. People can 'network' with others who share something in common with one another, whether that be a love of pets, a love of movies, a love of Sci Fi, the fact that they are shy, etc. The list of all 100+ sites can be seen here: http://www.passionsnetwork.com/c_resources.html

Re: Social Networking Awards - Nominations Open!

I would like to nominate Passions Network for category #12. It's a network of 100 different niche sites all tied together so that members can choose the sites they want to network on...like Trek Passions for SciFi, Trucker Passions for Truckers or even Shy Passions for shy people. This way people can sign up once, pick the sites that match who they are as a person, and then manage everything from one place.

Re: 2008/04/25/dating-toolbox-find-love/

Just a small addition, www.trekpassions.com is listed above, for anyone interested in Sci Fi. It is just one of over 100 individual niche dating & social networking sites within PassionsNetwork.com. The whole list can be seen here: PassionsNetwork.com/c_resources.html People create one account, and then add the different sites that match their 'passions' in life into their account. There is one login for the whole network. The allows members to create a very personal network of sites that match who they are as a person. For example, if you are a shy vegetarian nerd into video gaming and liberal politics, you might add shypassions.com, vegetarianpassions.com, nerdpassions.com, gamingpassions.com and democratpassions.com into your account. There are over 100+ sites, so the number of potential combinations is staggering. It is really up to the individual to determine the communities they want in their account. Just thought this might be of interest here, since the focus is on the wide variety of dating sites out there...since we have almost all of them within our network. Thanks, Michael

Re: EcoSexuals: The Second Coming

Just a quick note about Green-Passions.com. It's part of a large network of over 100 community sites called Passions Network and people who sign up with it can also add Vegan Passions and Vegetarian Passions into the same account, and manage everything from the same place. It's set up to make it easy for Eco-friendlies to meet in the areas they are most interested in. Everything is completely free, so this isnt' a sales pitch. Have fun.
