in Focus on the Family: Colorado just can’t afford same-sex benefits bill on The Colorado Independent
I remember learning in elementary school about the Boston Tea Party. Was it not the vortex for the all American phrase “No taxation without representation”? Like heterosexuals, gays pay taxes, are subject to the laws, and serve in the military, etc. Why should they not be entitled to the rights of all other citizens of the United States?

Wendy Norris Very good point, Larry.

Are religious conservatives who oppose gay marriage, domestic partner benefits and civil rights for the GLBT community willing to allow those members to enjoy a complete federal, state and local tax holiday?

And if you're gay and live in DC you get the double "taxation without representation" whammy.

in Focus on the Family Gave $100k to Proposition 8, Then Laid Off a Fifth of Its Workers on The Washington Independent
If these Dobson, Focus on the Family, the Church of Later Day Saints, or any religious organization wants to fund political actions, they are free to do so. All that they have to do is give up their tax exempt status. It is ironic that these institutions give lip service to truth and integrity, unless it is not to their benefit.

in Focus takes a long and winding road to push Prop 8 on The Colorado Independent
Dr. "Rush" Dobson's focus is clearly myopic. He only focuses upon opinions and data which support his preconceived hypothesis. Would Jesus love a Mormon, a Christian, an Agnostic, an atheist or a Jew? Jesus would, but Dobson won’t. He attempts to make himself superior to Jesus.

I have one question for Tim Goeglein. Did you ever disclose to anyone, including Robert Novak, that Valerie Plame worked for the CIA, as an intelligence analyst? Remeber the ten commandments, and do not lie.

in GOP Stimulus Strategy on The Washington Independent
It is ironic that the Republicans in Congress now are dragging their feet as the economy slips into a depression. When the Bush Administration, went to Congress for $700 Billion bailout based upon a 2 1/2 page request, they had no problem. The only delays were photo-ops that McCain needed. Now, the Republican leadership is holding up all efforts based upon tax relief. The tax base is evaporating, and without profits and income, it is becoming a moot issue. The financially secure may benefit, but the consequences will be known as the Republican-Bush Depression.

in Dick Cheney Is A Liar on The Washington Independent
Chickenhawk Cheney learned the hard way. Senior Clinton administration officials reportatedly warned their Bush administration counterparts in late 2000 that Al Qaeda posed the worst security threat facing the nation. The Bush administration was slow to act.
They said the warnings were delivered in urgent post-election intelligence briefings in December 2000 and January 2001 for Condoleezza Rice, who became Mr. Bush's national security adviser; Stephen Hadley, now Ms. Rice's deputy; and Philip D. Zelikow, a member of the Bush transition team, among others.

in Live from the RNC: The Second Ballot on The Washington Independent
The Republicans need a leader to continue the pursuit to reduce taxes until there is no government. The United States is in a recession. A strong, arrogant, self centered leader like Rush Limball is, needed to enhance the recession, and upgrade it to a full Republican-Bush Depression.

I guess that she missed being out of news for 48 hours. If she gets the GOP nomination, Obama will be a shoe for reelection.

John Skookum Well then, you ought to be first in line to donate to her PAC. If she's going to be such a pushover, put your money where your sneer is.

in They Hurt Rush’s Feelings! on The Washington Independent
Rush Limpball hopes that Obama's proposals fail. Like the other reactionary neo-cons, he more concerned about validation of his irrational ego, than he is with the condition of the United States. He is a traitor.

in A Serial Killers Warnings about Pornography on Dakota Voice
A correlation between “pornography” and a sexual sociopath is not news. If Ted Bundy lived in the 15th century, the view of a women’s ankle, it may have triggered a similar response. For Dobson, to take the self-analysis, anecdotal evidence, of one single sociopath, and declare that there is a cause and effect, does not meet the minimum requirements of scientific research.

Bob Ellis In my experience, when people want to justify an immoral behavior, nothing meets the "minimum requirements of scientific research" necessary to alert them to a danger.

in John McCain: Economic Disaster on The REAL McCain
These videos are the best synopsis of John McCain’s political abilities that I have come across. When I was out in the boondocks of Vietnam, we loved the fighter-bomber pilots. However, I do not think that his tactics of cut, turn, swerve, dive, and avoid being a target for a nanosecond, is what we need in a President at the present time.

JERRY AT LEAST OBAMA NEVER SERVED THIS COUNTRY, WE DO NOT NEED JUST A PRESIDENT BUT A LOYAL WHO LOVE THIS COUNTRY AND BE PROUD OF THIS COUNTRY CONTRARY TO THE STATEMENT OF THE WIFE OF THE NOMINEE "INEVER BEEN PROUD OF THIS COUNTRY TILL NOW" BY MITCELL OBAMA. WHAT A COMEDY THIS SHOULD BE ON SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE.

in New Obama Attack Hits McCain’s Old Tax Plan on The Washington Independent
You Neo-Cons are just whiners. Bush has been the president for almost eight years, and the Neo-Cons Republicans have controlled Congress for six of those years as well as the last two years of the Clinton Administration. How many Presidential vetoes by Bush has Congress overridden? Four! All of those vetoes required support by some Republicans in both the House and the Senate. Bush and his ilk, have followed the economic policies of the Fascists. Mussolini defined his economic stance by saying that his Fascist government "will give full freedom to private enterprise and will abandon all intervention in private economy." Bush and the Republicans followed this philosophy, and now our country is on the verge of bankruptcy.

So McCain wants to know the complete details of Obama's relationship with Bill Ayers. Was Ayers ever convicted? No! What about McCain's relatioship with G. Gordon Liddy? Liddy is a convicted burglar and domestic terrorist. He was also the host, in his home, for a 1998 fundraiser for John McCain’s Senate re-election campaign. McCain was on Liddy’s radio show in May 2007, where he praised Liddy’s values and proclaimed himself proud of Liddy and his "adherence to the principles and philosophies that keep our nation great":

So McBush takes credit for warning about Freddie and Fannie, to close the door after the horses have left the barn. Where were President Chaney and Vice-President Bush? They said that the economy was "sound". Sounds like B.S. How many Freddie and Fannie lobbyists are on the McBush Election Committee? I guess that when you own more houses than you can count, you do not understand or worry about the Residential Mortgage industry!

Think about it. Religion has actually convinced people that there’s an invisible man living in the sky who watches everything you do, every minute of every day. And the invisible man has a special list of ten things he does not want you to do. And if you do any of these ten things, he has a special place, full of fire and smoke and burning and torture and anguish, where he will send you to live and suffer and burn and choke and scream and cry forever and ever ’til the end of time! But He loves you. He loves you, and He needs money! He always needs money! He’s all-powerful, all-perfect, all-knowing, and all-wise, somehow just can’t handle money! Religion takes in billions of dollars, they pay no taxes, and they always need a little more. Now, you talk about a good bulls*%t story. Holy s*#^!”

in Obama Camp: McCain Not Suspending Campaign on The Washington Independent
President Bush, "the Worst President in history" is able to manage two wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, deal with the invasion of Georgia by Russia, manage the devastation in the Texas and Louisiana by a hurricane, deal with Korea reactivating their nuclear program, etc. McCain did not even read the three page bailout proposal until Tuesday. McCain then suspends his campaign “to provide leadership”? McCain has exposed the limits of his myopic mentality. If he honestly believes that the condition of the United States of America is more important than the campaign, he should give his concession speech today.
