I used to watch survivor just for the challenges. Remember the one where they had to fill a bucket with mud and that dude with dreadlocks used his hair to carry the mud. I never cared much for the alliances strategy crap, I just enjoyed seeing fame hungry idiots suffer.

Wipeout is like a whole season of Survivor pain in a neat package with hilarious commentary. No character development, no emotion. Only the good stuff left in.

Re: Ep 150: Futurama, Fringe (again), Is Television Any Better?

Sorry for the late comment, I had forgotten my Ordpress login.

I think Gordon Ferrar may have been using the same year 12 tactic I used to use for English Lit. Don't read the whole book, but make sure you quote what happens at the end to prove you read the whole thing.

Congrats on the 150, one of the best shows ever. Thanks for the memories Ross.

Cheers

Re: Ep 151: The Middleman, Top Gear (Aus), The Mentalist

I can't believe that SBS are surprised about Crap Top Gear's falling ratings.

http://www.news.com.au/entertainment/story/0,26...

I really wanted to like it, but now that they have done the Ford v Holden battle and thrown a couple of P76 / 44 gallon drum references in, there's really nothing left in the tank.

The test track / airport is ridiculous (so much dust). Charlie Cox is just awful (makes Glenn Ridge on the Car show look good).

Of course, if it was a choice between old top gear and crap top gear, I'd be inclined to go Two and a half men.

Speaking of James, I've seen him in Europe more since they pulled the pin on the permanent posting.

Cheers,

Gavin

Re: Ep 152: Scott Brennan, Life on Mars (US), Kath & Kim (US)

Great episode again, although I was half expecting Syd James to pop in a couple of times. Cheers also for the quiz win. Ted was on the most recent dancing with the stars USA, apparently.

In the spirit of Brett's Kate Ritchie leaving Home and Away news, I believe that Brett reported on this one some months ago:

http://www.news.com.au/entertainment/story/0,26...

And John, you asked for it (safe for work, mostly):

http://www.australele.com/gavins/ButtDR.jpg

Cheers,

Gavin

Re: Ep 153: The Life and Times of Tim, Worst Week, Review with Myles Barlow

As much as I hate to admit it, I think Ray Martin may have a point. So many axings. Surely in today's instant technology age, the networks can find a quicker way to work out if a show is likely to be axed long before they play it. Do they not watch them first? Someone should send them a torrent link.

Its a bit like the old joke about the bureau of meteorology not having any windows to check the weather.

And John, I personally cant wait for the pivotal third episode of "What Rock is that?" when they look at Igneous vs Magma: who would win in a fight.

Cheers,

Gavin
