in Visa Launches on Facebook, Who Cares? on AllFacebook
They're getting press because all of a sudden $2M shifted from another media (traditional digital, magazine, TV, etc.) into Facebook. And this shows that Facebook is thinking about how to leverage its platform to make money. VISA has made a very smart decision -- instead of just spending money on traditional media outlets to reach SBO, they're going directly to their consumers through the social nets. I'm not defending their product as I just signed up. But the important thing is that they LAUNCHED. Now Facebook and VISA will work together to make it better, iterate, add features, etc.

Dude. Nick. Why the long face today? VISA is a major brand. The real risk is that it doesn't do anything. The fact that the company has stepped up and built an application is huge. They are now doing business where tons of small business owners hang out. Not a bad strategy. I'm sure they'll iterate and then blow it out with Facebook. Congrats to the Facebook team and VISA in seeing the opportunity and going for it!

in Facebook Needs a Faster Newsfeed on AllFacebook
The 50,000 people who read TechCrunch and AllFacebook.com care about the speed of the Facebook news feed. The other 6 billion people in the world don't and will be happy to use Facebook as is.

in $50 Million to Facebook Application Development Firm on AllFacebook
Slide is a great company. Max has a giant brain. They're playing in a much bigger sandbox than just facebook. This will turn out to be a great investment for all involved. The social web is the next evolution and slide is well-positioned to generate significant revenue. Congrats to max et all on continuing to execute!!!!

in AdBlade: Late to the Game on AllFacebook
Hey All. Now that there are a ton of ad networks, let's share what has worked and what has not. Thanks! We have worked with Social Media and sold our own ads. We can generate a much higher CPM from our own sales, which is why we have not used many of the ad networks. Our effective CPM from Social Media is really low. Pls share your thoughts/experiences here or drop me an email (michael atsign buddymedia dot com)

in PlayFirst Raises $16.5 Million in Series C Round on Social Times
I don't quite see the direct competition with Buddy Media. We are building our a web-wide loyalty program working with anyone who wants to drive installs, viral growth and engagement. So we would see PlayFirst as a great parter. I see them VERY competitive with Webs.com, Presidio, MindJolt and the dozens of other "game networks" popping up each day. Regardless, it's great to see money flowing into our sector. Congrats PlayFirst. You picked an awesome partner in RockYou and I'm sure you guys are going to kill it.

in Facebook Killer Feature Arrives on AllFacebook
I like this initial step. It makes Facebook more useful. I don't think it has much effect on getting people over from LinkedIn. LinkedIn is an awesome site. But it's a productivity tool for the most part. The good news is that I can now create a friends list on Facebook called "Facebook Bloggers I Need to Suck Up To" and then keep those people separate from the others. They drink way too much at holiday parties and end up breaking news that you don't want broken. Just joking, Nick. You know I love you. Keep up the awesome work.
