They need to put their energy into this year's election and not a design of a website made by a multinational company.
I love the new design and these people are just wasting their time.

Once it officially switches there is going to be SO much bitching about it.
I love the new look. Either get used to it or leave facebook.

It was funny one time when facebook thought I was gay (i'm straight) and served me gay dating ads.
However the "Are you 27 and still a single LOSER, GET A GIRLFRIEND already" ads deeply offend me. They in fact offend me so much I block them with a greasemonkey script. :)

A good thing about this: It may finally force people to use other services.
As a youtube content creator and avid viewer I will be boycotting all of viacom's products.

This is great since I can't get my IRL friends to even look at friendfeed.
I gave friendfeed a second chance and while its ok, all it does it cater to the social media fan crowd and you really can't discuss anything other than what new web 2.0 technology is out there.
Still some of my facebook friends is going to not understand it and see it as "creepy".

in 2008/06/18/youtube-full-length-videos/ on Mashable - The Social Media Guide
Its going to have mixed results. YouTube is clearly tailored for the ADD generation. Unless if its groundbreaking, few people can sit through a video longer than 5 mins (let alone TEN, current limit)
It is interesting to note that YouTube once had unlimited time, but took it away because people were of course uploading full length TV shows and movies. They did let Directors have unlimited time, but quickly took it away because of abuse.
I happen to be lucky to have that grandfathered into my two year old account. Even still, I seldom go over 5-6 mins because I know deep down inside no one would watch a 20 min video of me vlogging.
Still I would like to see more indie filmakers, but only if they have a widescreen option like viddler or vimeo.

Widescreen would be awesome! Great idea! As for longer than 20 minutes, I'm often have to live overseas for work. As a first time parent I'd often like to upload longer videos like say of a 1 year old birthday party so my folks, friends and other family could see it. But alas, as of now, I don't have the option on youtube. I would definitely make use of the feature. I'd only fear that one day they would charge for a "premium account" to have access to that. But I guess google doesn't need our money for now.

My job finally banned facebook and I think its for the better.
Not only its not possible for rumours and other things to spread in the office, i'm a bit more productive.
Still it is frustrating to organize or find out about events until after work.

I'm still a heavily active facebook user since my school got access 4 years ago. While I'll admit its not like it used to be, it is still shades better than myspace.
User need to learn how to use their privacy functions and just block the annoying applications. Also don't just add every person you know. I'm tired of people whining about how their profiles is not safe. You CAN lock down your profile and restrict certain parts of it from being seen.

Unfortunately people are still going to ignore the rules. I think youtube need to have a team of volunteers to get rid of copyright violations. Its apparent that the staff is overwhelmed with it still.

in Facebook Stops Recommending Friends on AllFacebook
They should get rid of that feature completely. I'm upset that I see people who I despise show up on it. I'm not friends with them in the 1st place for a reason.

That's right, I quibble, I nitpick :-)
Personally, I enjoy the new design as well. But a power user I am not, so perhaps it's just not ideal for everyone. ...and the world still turns...
