in What would you like to be a master of? on Carrie and Danielle
I am amazed at how Carrie answers the Daily is nearly exactly my own answer. Your answer today is my own feelings and thoughts, as was your answer yesterday with creating the house of my dream.

in What items from your childhood make your heart smile with fond memories? on Carrie and Danielle
My childhood was the one you did not want to have. How ever, there was this story book I was given when I was 5, that I loved to read to my little sisters. Forty years later, one of my sisters found a reprint of that book and gave it to me as a Christmas gift. The memories of reading that story warm my heart and put a smile on my face.

pearl_mattenson You just reminded me of my prized book: Mike Mulligan and the Steam Engine. I saved it and read it to myown kids (it is barely holding together now) but for some reason it meant so much to me....

Linda Borland-Fitzgerald C,

I had one of those childhoods too. The item I wrote about was also a book. It was from the best part of my childhood. It was only one year but it was the one in which I felt safe, loved and magical.. all because of one very, special teacher.

in Who has been of service in your life, and how do you remember them? on Carrie and Danielle
My grandmother Evelyn. She was angel even before she left this world. Her words to me have literally kept me moving forward in my life. She stil serves me with little things. My grandfather passed away this summer and as I was going through the file cabinet that as theirs and now mine, I found one of my grandmother's all occasion cards she kept handy. This one says "Thinking of you and wishing you well" on the outside; "You're often on my mind, especially when I know you're not feeling well... Please take care, and feel better soon" on the inside. The envelope is pink, the card is pink, I love pink! Two nights ago, as I lay in bed I suddenly could smell the scent of Dove soap - the pink colored bar, the one my grandmother used.

I also get to recognize my father and two sons who are Veterans and served to keep me free from tyrrany and terrorists.

in This Weekend, How Are You Going to Play? on Carrie and Danielle
One of my sons is ADD. He can't even be still and quiet in his sleep. That isn't a joke. Since he was three, he has walked and talked in his sleep. When he is awake, he is non stop on the go. All I can say is thank goodness for computers, clay, prepackaged cookie dough, bicycles, roller blades and balls. There is hope. He is now a Medic and loves saving lives.

in This Weekend, How Are You Going to Play? on Carrie and Danielle
I love playing in the dirt via planting flowers, trees, and weeding the garden, and playing with my potted house plants. It's heavenly! Since I live in Central Texas Hill Country, we are still having daily high's of 80' plus weather, and over night lows are only in the mid 40's. I've got a limestone planter I am building. To me, this is all kinds of play and fun!

in How do you define your self worth? on Carrie and Danielle
In the past I equated my value with what I am able to do, so really I was not valuing me, but rather my abilities and what I accomplished. Over the last 11 years I've had the opportunity to revise this thinking. My value, my self worth, now comes from the perspective "I am valuable because I am me." This gives far more meaning to anything I say, think, or do.

in How do you define good leadership? on Carrie and Danielle
Good leadership creates an environment for the higher good of all he /she leads. By nature, this requires a leader to be intune with those who are led, often requiring sacrifice of ones own personal comfort, wants and aims. A good leader - a fabulous leader, knows that some times what is over all best for every one may not necessarily be the most favorable for a single individual or group, and chooses the whole rather than the part. This same leader also knows that what works for one can completely undo another but that also what lifts one will lift all. The best leadership is tolerant , patient, seeks wisdom from a higher source, and expects those whom are led to be self-principled, self-governed, and self-responsible. My grandmother taught this to me.

in What do you do to make yourself present in the moment? on Carrie and Danielle
When I find myself dwelling on the past or wondering about tomorrow, the easiest thing I've found to do is toclose my eyes and breathe slowly, focusing on every breath. When I feel relaxed, I then intentionally focus on what I would most benefit me at that very moment. You've got to have a resource of mind shifters that can get you out of the negative and back into the positive; a personal deck of cards that's all Aces. I find repeating "I am whole, perfect, strong, powerful, loving, harmonious, happy and joyful" reminds me that all is well.

in What kind of friend are you? on Carrie and Danielle
Honest, straight forward, accepting and non-judgemental, caring, and empathetic. I am dependable and wouldn't think twice about doing what ever it takes to help a friend out who is in need. I am also smart, saavy and never allow people to walk on me or take advantage of me - I know a soap box story when I hear one.

in What’s the best “how to dress right” tip that you know? on Carrie and Danielle
Having three sisters who were models and two of them who won muiltiple Miss or Mrs, pageants, you would think I would at least care a little bit about fashion. If it is comfortable and I like the way I look and feel in it, then I buy it because then I will wear it. I really honestly do not care what any one else thinks. I believe in the rule of one in one out. I wanted a new pair of black pumps so I tossed the old ones and went searching for the perfect new pair.
