I switched over from blogspot to my own domain 2 weeks ago. Even though I posted on the blogspot about the transfer, I can see in my feeds that I'm still getting traffic on blogspot instead of Desty Online so I would consider sending a mass mailing to my community annoucing the move. I just totally changed my theme and am trying to get better at SEO before the PR update. Since I've only known about SEO for 2 months, any and everything is appreciated. I followed most of everything discussed until you go into the advanced SEO and presentation. Again, thank you!

Shawn

Re: Linking Mistakes Frequently Encountered On Blogs

What I don't understand is why people use those horrible Google search generated links. I had been debating on buying Alvin's ebook. I'm at the point where I have the "basics" down and am looking for critical remarks or more advanced help wtih my blog. I believe that exposure is what I need, and extra tips on increasing traffic appears to be what I need at this time. If I had bought that ebook, and if it was indeed mainly basics in setting up wordpress, themes, plugins, etc, I would have been very disappointed and would have requested a refund.

As revenue increases, I'll start requesting compensated reviews. Advertising is something where you control the message because you're paying for it. A review is where you pay for a public critique, good or bad. It's up to you, the person shelling out the cash, to know the differences and to have realistic expectations about what you get from each.

Re: John Chow Slammed In Free Report

I think some people get confused and equate review to advertising. I learn alittle more with each of your article, even if I don't fully understand the entire piece.

For example, a review you made several months ago of another blog. You went into full detail about possible improvements for the blog's SEO. I understood and learned from the 1st 2-3 paragraphs; the rest, even though you had used pictures (ooo...pretty) to illustrate your point, went over my head.

I'm always on the lookout for practical information that I can put to use, so I subscribed for the free report.

Re: Do You Trust My Advice?

I don't know if it's a matter of newbie vs insider information. Cash Quests, also, was the inspiration for this idea. I haven't been able to sit down and make the actual page yet, but I did come up with a problem. If I start focusing my promotional links towards this landing page instead of my home page, wouldn't that take away from my home page's rankings?

Re: Its Just Business, Nothing Personal.

I've got a side project going on where I'd like to have a headed done by the same artist as yours. I posted several weeks ago asking about what do bloggers see as a set of ethic they use to guide them in their online activities (marketing, affiliates, etc). I called it Project: I, Blogger. It's about creating a conversation between bloggers about what is acceptable and what's not. I'll add this to an up-comming update on the project.
Thanks!
Shawn

Re: Institutional incompetence?

I was going to mention how the school bus will come up to drop my son off in the afternoon when it's raining, but won't come get him during the morning, but Andy's comment makes this seem so small.

My son is 3 and has physical and speech delays. He goes to a preschool for therapy and to help him catch up. The morning bus driver makes my wife take him down to the busy road for pick-up, and on a normal day, that's fine. When it's raining, it's impossible unless you want a soaked 3 year old, wife, and 1 year old (we're not going to leave him alone at the house). A different driver in the afternoon will come to us and drop him off if it's raining, but the morning driver won't.

Re: Institutional incompetence?

That's exactly what it sounds like. We're currently going up the chain of command at the bus authority. They had the head of the department come out and give the song and dance about how they'd like to come up to us, but the fact that it's a one way street and would have to turn around on private property, yada yada yada. The owner of the property says there's no problem, but of course the bus people don't see it that way...
