in Do You Trust My Advice? on Andy Beard - Internet Business Systems Discussion
I don't know if it's a matter of newbie vs insider information. I learn alittle more with each of your article, even if I don't fully understand the entire piece.
For example, a review you made several months ago of another blog. You went into full detail about possible improvements for the blog's SEO. I understood and learned from the 1st 2-3 paragraphs; the rest, even though you had used pictures (ooo...pretty) to illustrate your point, went over my head.
I'm always on the lookout for practical information that I can put to use, so I subscribed for the free report.

I'm all for building a backstory as the next person, but I agree it took too long to get the Hiro vs Adam thing going. Now that it's going, we're moving like a roller coaster.

Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but you're saying Kumiko is being more businesslike, as though that was a bad thing?

I personally think what makes your site are the cow themed buttons and the color scheme.

I think some people get confused and equate review to advertising. Advertising is something where you control the message because you're paying for it. A review is where you pay for a public critique, good or bad. It's up to you, the person shelling out the cash, to know the differences and to have realistic expectations about what you get from each.

I, for one, am glad JC did the review. I had been debating on buying Alvin's ebook. I'm at the point where I have the "basics" down and am looking for critical remarks or more advanced help wtih my blog. I believe that exposure is what I need, and extra tips on increasing traffic appears to be what I need at this time. If I had bought that ebook, and if it was indeed mainly basics in setting up wordpress, themes, plugins, etc, I would have been very disappointed and would have requested a refund.
As revenue increases, I'll start requesting compensated reviews. I'd much rather have everything be where it needs to be than buy traffic related reviews and have nothing stick because I'm not ready.

in Landing Pages C(r)ash Course on John Cow dot COM
Heh, I came to the same conclusion a few weeks ago about the need to have a landing page for 1st time readers. Cash Quests, also, was the inspiration for this idea. I haven't been able to sit down and make the actual page yet, but I did come up with a problem. If I start focusing my promotional links towards this landing page instead of my home page, wouldn't that take away from my home page's rankings?

in Linking Mistakes Frequently Encountered On Blogs on Andy Beard - Internet Business Systems Discussion
What I don't understand is why people use those horrible Google search generated links. I mean, I know why they do it, they're in a rush, just as you said, but still, there's so much to gain from actually going to the page and reading it! I like to create link posts about once a week to articles I found and think my readers might find interesting. You don't just slap a link in a post and hit publish. Why do you like it? Why do you recommend others read it? How has this linked article affected you? It helps readers gain trust and see the value in what you do if you explain things. Also, another good reason to click through, two words: Trackback. Ok, only 1 word, but sounds like 2 ;)

Thank you Andy for such a detail rich post about SEO. I just totally changed my theme and am trying to get better at SEO before the PR update. Since I've only known about SEO for 2 months, any and everything is appreciated. I followed most of everything discussed until you go into the advanced SEO and presentation. Again, thank you!

in MyBlogLog New Features – The Abusive and the Incomplete on Andy Beard - Internet Business Systems Discussion
I actually have a reason to use the mass mailing. I switched over from blogspot to my own domain 2 weeks ago. Even though I posted on the blogspot about the transfer, I can see in my feeds that I'm still getting traffic on blogspot instead of Desty Online so I would consider sending a mass mailing to my community annoucing the move. Beyond that, yeah, there's really no reason for the mass mailing feature. If enough readers want general annoucements, the creating of a newsletter would be a more considerate avenue.

Actually that isn't a reason.
The 301 redirect that can be made from Blogspot would be followed by the feedreaders, so they will go to
http://www.destyonline.com/whteverURLblogspotus...
They will currently get a 401 error that it doesn't exist
Blogspot probably creates 2 or 3 different feeds, so you would see 2 or 3 error messages in your stats
All you need to do is set up a 301 redirect in your .htaccess file from those old feeds to your new one.
You then use the Feedsmith plugin to ensure that all feeds redirect to a Feedburner account, and you then have accurate feed stats for all the different feed requests.
