I don't think there's any agenda other than saving Republican votes this year. Any answer to that question other than impeachment or criminal prosecution would have caused an uproar. The only way out for him was the standard non-answer, "no comment until the investigation is over." I'm suprised he answered the question the way he did (by not taking the non-answer), but it seems like Specter is an honest and straight-forward guy (the little I know about him). Hopefully that also means this won't be a glossy coated investigation.

Re: Emperor Bush and his precious signing statements

Here's a more clear (at least it seems that way) count:

http://writ.news.findlaw.com/dean/20060113.html...>

--------

Excerpt:

By Cooper's count, George W. Plus each song works out to be like a third of iTunes cost (I think like $0.30 for the plan I use...)

It's indie only, but highly recommended. Or provide yourself with a healthy extra income? Certainly possible and considered a success for a lot of people.)

Plus, I agree with Seth Godin: today's Web is primed with niche opportunities. You just need to be able to recognize them and move a LOT faster than you did even a few years ago.

Not to mention there are a ton of resources out there for internet marketing, small businesses, SEM, etc. etc. (SEOMoz, this site, Godin, the list goes on...) A LOT more than even a couple years ago. There's just no golden guide in one location that provides all the answers. But that is the beauty of blogs, websites and linking - the answer to your question/problem may only be a click away.

Re: Six reasons NOT to try to be an online retailer

@Greg - I meant a site that cost a few hundred dollars, since that is the example you used in your post. Definitely covers the recording costs, no doubt. Add in merchandise, sold out tours, the collector's discbox, and not having to pay anyone (other then themselves), I think Radiohead will make out very well in the end. I think it is a brilliant strategy for them.

Re: Radiohead’s Music Downloads - An Experiment

I'm not sure if any of you guys are Radiohead fans, but to me (who has all of their albums), I don't think Radiohead falls into the single track realm of most "pop" music - especially all of their albums since OK Computer. They are complete experiences to me and I think that is the way Radiohead wants to present their music.

Anyway, for the cost of one track on iTunes, you can have the entire Radiohead album, if you choose to pay that much. So, I don't really think the lack of single tracks is an issue.

And as far as marketing and spreading the word goes, I think the publicity this move is getting is doing a great job for them. I can't even count how many articles I've read in Google Reader (from a wide variety of sites) that have commented on the move and linked to the Radiohead sites. And that is not even counting the MSM coverage. Seth Godin would be very proud of Radiohead, IMO.

Re: 75% of Facebook Users Reject New Design; Facebook Forces it on them Anyway!

Yeah I agree with Dan, the quote reads '75% of the users who tried the new FB design, stuck with the new design.' I don't think there's any agenda other than saving Republican votes this year.

Possible, I guess, but unlikely.

And, as far as crash and burn goes, the Repubs have been doing such a *fantastic* job the last 8 years, I think the Dems will be hard pressed to meet up with them at the bottom of the heap. The tabloid, half truth, spin-it-to-death stories? It sure seems like those are the ones they are pushing, because they have no where to stand on the real issues.

I mean, what excites you about McCain? If you make under $250k per year, you'll get a better tax break; some kind of universal health care; more focus on the environment and alternative, renewable energies; focus on actually improving education (rather than a policy with a snappy name that doesn't do anything, like Bush); someone who actually understands the constitution and defends it; and someone who acknowledges that the economy is actually doing pretty poorly for a vast majority of Americans -- with Obama.

Palin and McCain don't talk about those issues very much, because they can't compete. Their campaign manager even says so... it tells you a lot about the campaign, when both acceptance speeches didn't touch on very many key issues (McCain's) or none at all (Palin).

Re: Joe the (unlicensed) Plumber?

OK, so maybe the points were valid for the 5% of small business owners (or what ever extreme minority it is) that it applies to, but why keep on this 'Joe the Plumber' guy if his story isn't true? Two dozen times. McCain dug his own grave on this one...

Why? Because 'Joe the Plumber''s "story" is more compelling than saying a (wealthy) small percentage of you will have your taxes go up under Obama's plan. That doesn't sell the issue to the majority of middle class (or 90-something percent who will get a tax cut under Obama) viewers... but "hey, if you work hard and get to a point where you can become an entrepreneur, you are going to be penalized for your hard work." does (or at least more so)... why not come out and say that, instead of keeping on this fake life story? Or, how about this... even easier: find a guy (or gal) that it really applies to and make them the centerpiece of your debate? That would have been too easy, huh?

To me, it just seems as if the McCain campaign has repeatedly shown they aren't very interested in the details, which is a big deal when you want to be a leader of a world super power (in my opinion.)

Re: Good luck, spammers.

It's looking to be a good install.
