There are a few films that always make me cry no matter how many times I watch 'em:

1) The Color Purple (1985): Several moments get the waterworks going. Celie's reunion, enough said!

2) Imitation of Life (1959): Sara Jane and her mother's tumultuous relationship.

3) The Champ (1979): Ricky Schroeder at the end, every time!

4) A Christmas Carol (1951): When Scrooge exchanges words with his nephew's wife.

There are others, but the one's listed are at the top of the list.

Truly one of Hollywood's greatest. I am an admirer of Charlton Heston, just as he was large in stature, so was his cinematic legacy. Varied in his roles, rarely was Mr. Heston cast as a villain, always the hero it in film and his personal life. Mr. Heston is definitely in a class of his own. Personal cinematic highlights I've enjoyed several times are "Planet of the Apes", "Soylent Green", "El Cid", "The Ten Commandments", "Ben-Hur", "The Naked Jungle" and the disaster masterpiece "Earthquake". Mr. Heston will surely be missed.

Welcome to I Heart Movies. :)

I'm glad to know that someone else quotes films word per word.
When I first saw this film in '87 I annoyed everyone with "As you wish" and "Hello, my name is Inigo Montoya and you killed my father..." ;) It wore on peoples nerves, but I had such a love for the film and still do to this day. It had characters you liked and cared about, loved to hate, but could feel sorry for at the same time. An instant classic.

There have been numerous posters featuring the Joker, they are all enticing. It's a shame they all couldn't be used. I believe this craze isn't over just yet.

Sounds like it could be a cool film, just depends on the adaptation and, like you said, toned down. I haven't read the comic, but with the success of superhero films I'm sure studios are looking to cash in on some other type of graphic novels. Hell, look at what "300" did, not too shabby. Now, if they could only do a live version of "Lady Death" and "Sandman", I could die happy! ;)

I actually found the movie rather entertaining. Not great, but entertaining. I knew going in that it wasn't going to be a masterpiece but being a fan of gore it satisfied those urges! ;)

I do think the "Resident Evil" films rock! But everything else you said is pretty accurate.
