EdgeIO main founder besides Mike is Keith Teare. You article makes it sound like Mike's startup when actually it's been Keith Teare and Mike Arrington who put it together.

EdgeIO is certainly poised to be disruptive and the market is ripe for it

i wonder if the gps software in cars have the same issue. Clearly an issue on online maps to have all the local information. I wonder if James had a verizon or sprint wireless pc card. I have my notebook with my verizon card all the time.

I love the Merc. The principles of the organization and the people are sound. The problem is with the platform and the economics of a 'new reality'. That is why I raised money for PodTech. It's the same game but different conditions. Good content, good people, Fresh Voices, and integrity.

Everyone knows the web 1.0 algorithmic search doesn't work in the real time environment. Historical stuff - great and awesome but real time stuff I agree with you Scob 100%. It's going to be an algorithm that no one sees coming and I think it will be social based .... keep your eye out for some new stuff...

This brings up one of my pet peeves... RSS feeds are too important to outsource. Users need to have control over their feeds. For me I had some bumps with Wordpress but they do provide the source code.. So have your son start coding :-)

Podcast consumers don't link... podtech.net has a ton of traffic but doesn't get any linkage because we're not actively blogging but podtech.net is a blog. We've also moved our servers three different time in the past few months due to traffic load.

Key to success is to look past the bubble hype. Of course we are in a bubble there is a massive shift in the economics and wealth of the 'netarchitecture' going on right now.

There will always be ad revenue in user or audience based models. The issue is that the ad model doesn't and will not translate from what it is today to the new market environment that is developing.

Keys to avoid the bubble is to enter the market with a clear sustainable plan: build a great team and execute a business/revenue model that generates cash flow and market position. From that point on competing on value will determine who stays around.
